The irony between english and dutch when discussing cross is wonderful. Does ‘proper’ mean clean in flemish as well?

Dude.
Flemish is regional Dutch. Dutch is the official language in The Netherlands and in Flanders.
(But if anything, proper=clean is more Flemish than Dutch.)
