Just a quicky request: If you wanna post a video, can you pretty please use fanposts instead of fanshots?
I ask, because, the fanshots do not go to the front page as easily with video. Like, the width is all wacked. I know, this is the place where all the regulars will start talking about wide view. I hear you. But, people who are showing up to the site without logging in will see narrow view. So, the front page has to be compatible with narrow. I know! I know! It's silly! But it's how it is.
Anyway, video. Please pretty please use fanposts. Because then we can front page your awesome videos easily.
Remember! People with author/admin/super powers privileges are not subject to the word count requirements on fanposts. So use those things!

But only if you know it exists? Which, most people, who aren’t regulars here, don’t. We had a long discussion about that a while back, remember? And even many of the people who come here all the time didn’t know there were two modes. Maybe someday, SBN will commit to one or the other. Until then, meh.
The main reason I keep begging people to use fanposts is that fanshots don’t allow any flexiblity on editing. You can’t add a page jump, you can’t change the size, you can’t do anything to make the story work better on the front page. Fanposts? Much more flexible.
I really like being able to put cool stuff people find on the front page. But! I also want the fp to be useable by everyone who stops by the site.
Also, fanshots. Way at the bottom of the page. Lame.

maybe, someday, SBN will get rid of that 75 word minimum requirement for a fanpost too.

and, also, i hope that sbn DOESN'T get rid of the option of narrow or wide, since, with narrow, i don't have to scroll sideways.

I use narrow
a lot, actually. Because I often have a lot of stuff to fit on my wee laptop screen.

wouldn’t you use wide mode, like automatically? Even if you didn’t know it existed? Jens is just teasing you, gav. He should be banned.

Feel free to pirate any video I post as a fanshot and make a fanpost with it. Sometimes I don’t feel like I need to add very much when the video its self speaks volumes. The alternative is that I wouldn’t post anything because I felt like it is too much of a hassle to write something coherent and stuff. (I bet you could never guess that I am not much of a writer.)

I wish there was a “fanpost this” button as well as fanshots, because I’ve never understood how to make a fanpost that’s got the video there, without getting into the html, etc, whereas I use my “Share on SB nation” toolbar button, because it makes things easy
