The header isn't right.

It should say Belgium’s cycling in year. Which is perfectly fine for Sporza. But a little less interesting for non-Belgian followers

Frinking's right

They forgot the Tour of Britain.

Boom!

It is ethically wrong to toss aside someone for something they did because they got caught, but to welcome people who've done the same thing in their past and simply didn't get caught.--Jonathan Vaughters

In Belgium we like tease the Dutch,

it’s an ancient tradition. We don’t mean anything with it.

Oh, sorry we didn't notice this great tradition...

Guess we’re too busy making money, governing our country, that sort of thing ;)

Oh, and winning Olympic medals.

Do you have nicknames/epithets/slang terms for each other?

Domme Belgen (dumb Belgians)

Dikke nekken for the ’Ollanders? Not sure.

Thanks.

Maybe as an off-season project PdC can help you come up with more creative ones.

Good.

The general idea is: Belgians are dumb/gullible, and Dutchmen are arrogant/thrifty.

(“dikke nek” = thick neck, literally, but means arrogant)

I like the sound of these,

although I’m not sure I really grasp the concept behind the first two, so if they are beyond-the-pale disgusting please excuse me…

Uw moeder is al staande bevallen zeker.

Gij hebt ne kop om stront op te sorteren.

Als mijne hond ne kop had gelijk gij, dan schoor ik z’n gat kaal en leerde hem achteruit lopen!

“I guess your mother gave birth while standing up.”

“You have a head to dump shit on.”

“If my dog had a head like you, I’d shave his ass and learn him to walk backwards.”

Wonderfully tasteful Flemish jokes.

kaaskoppen

= cheeseheads, don’t ask me why
We like to think they’re cheap and they have horrible culinary traditions.
The ‘hate’ for the Dutch comes from the fact that they were the last ones to dominate Belgium before we became an independant country.

by broerie on Dec 6, 2011 5:13 AM EST up reply actions

Yes, I'm sure you remember that ;)

Currently it’s more of a little brother thing, it seems.
