PdC’s Trivia Monday Quiz #5

PdC Trivia Gang:

Congratulations to the Podium Café Stage 1(November) winners Vlaanderen90 and FrenchKheldar, but defending champion IrishPeloton is close behind! Going forward all of November’s scores will be added to your Overall total as Stage 2 (December) begins.

SPECIAL NOTE: Quiz #5 has only 4 questions. Two of these questions will draw on your Pro-cycling memory as well as your power of observation. I thought the question was very difficult, so it is up to you to prove me wrong. Hint: look very closely at the photo on question 3.

Quiz #5 is posted. Trivia Monday QUIZZES

Trivia Monday answers to November’s Quizzes #1 to #4 are now posted on the Trivia page. Looking for the questions you may have missed is always a good exercise.

Good Luck,

BB

PS- the full standings are posted on the Trivia index page.

I’m conceding the race lead early, and by the smallest possible margin, to avoid the pressure of defending from the front. The Armstrongian approach rather than the Merckxian.

10 this week

Were both last questions worth 5 points? Awesome questions though, I really think asking a question based on a picture is great (but tough :) ).

by FrenchKheldar on Dec 5, 2011 5:35 PM EST reply actions

The ranks of the "undefeated" have shrunken...

If it make you feel any better, of the 6 perfect (thru Nov.) players 3 have fallen.

And yes there were only 4 questions and 2 were worth 5 points.

total luck – the tough quizzes don’t scare me, i can make random guesses on the tough ones just as well as on the easy ones. Curious to hear the explanation on the first photo question.

WOOHOO!

8!! Yes, I am celebrating that number this week. Trust me if you haven’t taken the quiz yet.

De cross gaat out that door.

8 is not bad...

An 8 means you got 1 of the harder questions correct. Well done!

I’m off to my worst start ever. Getting into the Top 10 is going to be tough this year.

I looked very closely at the photo

Indeed, I gave it a stare worthy of Paddington Bear, but still nothing. Is it meant to be one of those 3-D things where the answer pops out suddenly?

by Monty. on Dec 6, 2011 3:48 AM EST reply actions

It is not a trick question...

The photo os of a major road race… but there is an aspect of the photo that is unusual. The question is difficult but a great question non-the-less. Even Trivia Mondays best historians have been challenged by the photo. Unfortunately the answers won’t be published until after Quiz #8 closes. I’ll try to remember to remind all to check out the posted answers.

Did I have it right?

I git a hint out of the picture.. But it was a tricky one

by Frinking on Dec 6, 2011 1:49 PM EST up reply actions

Yes...

You got the harder of the two 5 pointers correct!!!

by CCB-VW on Dec 7, 2011 7:53 AM EST up reply actions

The which year or what race?

Because if it was the first one I was just lucky

:-)

Without giving anything away “that’s a definite maybe…”

I thought I probably had a 1, pleasantly surprised.

I spotted something in the photo, not sure if it’s the same ‘thing’ the quizmaster had in mind, or whether what I think I saw was right, but it led me to the right answers!

I think this might be my worst ever showing in Trivia Monday.

I’m not surprised about the last two questions, but I was pretty sure I had question #2.

Oh well, nowhere to go but up, now :-)
