You know it's going to be good when at least 1/4 of the names include "van" somewhere in it
My bags are guaranteed sand-free.
Hmmm...Garmin's lineup is interesting
Saving Haussler and Farrar for bigger stuff? I’m surprised to see Navardauskas in there but I’m definitely loving it :D
And QS has a great team assembled too…3 potential winners in Boonen, Chava and Terpstra. Maes is really impressing me in Qatar, should be a strong team player. and I hope Van Impe is back to his pre-2010 form.
Maybe Thor vetoed ever riding KBK again
There are only so many snicker bars in the world

I think there is some hesitation of doing too much
Nuyens is skipping the weekend altogether to save his health and avoid going into Holy Week with sub-optimal prep. Garmin are probably doing the smart thing by using their deep roster, Thor aims for Nieuwsblad and Farrar for K-B-K and they also leave space for their young guys to ride some of the races that way.
My bags are guaranteed sand-free.
Yeah, really--GHH and Farrar went 2-3 there last year.
Still, I will have 9 riders lining up, assuming I don’t fire any of them before the deadline.
It's really cool--Heinrich Haussler, on Barbie Barbie
I have 7...I think I need to fire some climbers. That number seems too low.
And 4 of my 7 are on Quickstep

123rd
I was really low (like at one point I was in the high 300- low 400’s) until August…Eneco Tour with Martin, EBH and Boom and then I had Nibali, Velits for the Vuelta. And then Gesink helped later in Canada/Italy
I probably could have done better but all my riders were U-26 so I was a bit restricted.

Too Dutch
Maybe our teams won’t be as alike as I’d imagined.

I'm only having 1 Dutchy this year.
Gesink pissed me off too much last year.

One?
Will my team win the “Dutchest” award yet again?

Currently, from all valid teams,
(submitted or not), there is one team each with 8, 7 and 6 Dutchies and five teams with 5. All other teams have 4 or fewer.
Hm
Looks like I’ll have to try a little harder. But not much.

As far as I can remember
I’m one of those with 4 Brits, but it may be 5.
I was wrong
I the one with 6 Brits and I also have an Irishman.
Who is crazy enough
to pick all Belgians?

how did I end up with the 3rd most dutchies?
Sminer: I blame KARMA for everything.
Jens: I've heard it's a bitch
Water Girl: I heard it ran over your dogma
Me too(three).
It would appear I am saving my guys for better days.
On accuracy
You are linking to Het Nieuwsblad, so they probably have a slight idea of what’s going on in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.

Completely accurate and a very trustworthy resource to base my VDS team on?

:D
At your own risk ;)
LOL, it never fails that when I post a start list without a disclaimer, someone shows up and tells me that no, it’s like totally wrong. Even if I got it off the org webby. So, I’m now well-trained.
Jens is this you?
This is the internet, we have no time for dawdling. "Poorly thought-through ill-advised action, done swiftly " is our motto
Cos I want to use it in my tag line but need to give credit where it is due
If you forget his name
he’ll also answer to ‘Becco Slayer’ or ‘Cabin Boy.’

Uhhh gavia [pushes glasses up nose]
They list a Thomas Veilleux on Europcar, and while there is a David Veilluex, CQ has no record of a Thomas
…unless everyone on europcar has been told to emulate Tommy V, and little David is taking that too seriously.
They seem to think
the same. There are 22 teams this year, and there were 25 in 2010. Saxo Bank is also missing, but it’s not on their race schedule either.

Dominique Rollin FTW!

this makes me happy
I picked Riccardo Ricco for my 2011 VDS team, and submitted said team well before the submission deadline. I fully understand the error of my ways, and plead with the VDS Gods to allow me to resubmit my team.
Ride Fast!
I’m counting on you.

Bring on the cobbles!
I made this countdown clock a while back. Could be remade with a more accurate time if I knew the actual start time and what the time actual difference is etc., etc.. But in the olden days this would have already been done and posted on a side bar in November.
The skills really do go away if not practiced, and I don't mean to brag but I was getting very mediocre. - Tejay Van Garderen
so, according to that startlist, there are five on my somewhat tentative vds squad. i find that absolutely amazing.
"Wizard's first rule. People are stupid. They will believe anything they want to be true or fear to be true." -- Terry Goodkind
I have seven.
However, I think the point is rather more which seven.
"What happened in British Cycling, a lot of people doubted me. I've come back, got this victory, and done it my way." - Adam Blythe after his first pro win at Circuit Franco Belge
I'll have to check at home,
but I think I have at least 23 guys starting.
my only shot at glory for the year…
"It's crazy. In Belgium they would have stopped the train"
-Peter Van Petegem, April 2006-
That was my strategy last year--aim for the top at Het Nieuuewuesblad, then free fall the rest of the season.
It's really cool--Heinrich Haussler, on Barbie Barbie
Actually I counted. 16 riders but all of my top guys.
I should rename my team:
“Omloop Het-Nieuwsblad: Glory’s last shot”

yep
Our Tour and Giro colors are kind of played, and it takes too long to redo.

spanish, triki, spanish

with a few basques thrown in for flavoring

Spanish...Italian...Basque...?
My team is looking at each other and shrugging.
It's really cool--Heinrich Haussler, on Barbie Barbie
Actually I have riders starting Het Thingy
And at the moment I have 6 Italians and 6 Spanish/Basques though I have to cut down still.
I have one
and I’ve no idea why Matthieu Ladagnous is on my team. I think he crept in on the “ditch Ricco” reshuffle
Could be because...
there’s some recent crackdowns on streaming and torrents. Just a fortnight ago Homeland Security seized a domain name www.channelsurfing.net
More and more torrents seem to be accompanied with trackers which aren’t fended off by port or IP forwarders.
Some who stream sports have over the last 5-6 months become very discreet, and only start streams once an event is underway, and don’t advertise as widely as before.
Whoa, no more channelsurfing?
Meh. Hey Homeland Security, don’t you have anything better to do?
Ahem, right, no politics, Gav.
People were getting dangerous ideas
from watching pirate feeds of Gigi Scarbozza on the Processo.
My bags are guaranteed sand-free.
This is good info, but I'm interested in paying
I hope at least Sporza.be is legal?
Cycling.tv used to show Het Volk ^H^H^H^HNieuwsblad, can’t remember what they charged but you used to be able to buy a classics package iirc.
Anybody know whether anyone will pick up the slack? Sporza.be is fine with me of course, but I do enjoy the announcing in English too.
by this list I have seven starters
Sminer: I blame KARMA for everything.
Jens: I've heard it's a bitch
Water Girl: I heard it ran over your dogma
I have six or seven
I can’t remember if I included one of them in my final team or not. I don’t think any of them will win though.
