If you log in at the VDS website

and go to the My Team page (that’s where you end up when logging in, anyway) you will see a link near the top of the page: “Check the submission deadline!” It links to a popup window with the submission deadline and the EXACT hours, minutes and seconds remaining.

Great. Time to help the kid throw together a Doctor Who-themed team

which we’ll do in about 20 minutes—and if history repeats itself, his team will beat my agonized-over-for-weeks by at least a couple hundred points.

After many, many, many, (...), many last minute changes...

…team Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except Fabian and His Motor is now registered.

I feel so free now. And then, Saturday, the regrets will start to kick in.

That's why I pulled the plug a few days ago.

I need help

Is Lance riding both the Giro and Tour this year or just the Tour? Only sincere answers, please!

by ursula on Feb 25, 2011 12:31 AM EST reply actions

I think three things will determine this:

1. The Feds doping case progression
2. RadioShacks early season performance
3. Sponsor sitaution in late April

My current view on prob.
None: 85%
Tour : 10%
Both: 5%

Seriously,

the retirement announcement was unofficial (shhh) and is really just a great big sandbagging ploy. He’s planning on showing Contador how to do the triple. If you don’t put Lance on your team for 6 measly points you’ll regret it.

The team presentation was held last night in Upminster Church Hall. Much txakoki was imbibed. Today, however, the training started. I took them up the fearsome Old Church Hill on the outskirts of Basildon, which separated the men from the boys.

"Unsubmitted" (dir. Clint Eastwood, 2011)

Deserted main street of a frontier town, rusting bicycle wheels lean against the hitching post.
Discarded gel wrappers flutter in the dry wind that blows in from the prairie.
A young man hurries along the dusty street, and looks nervously around before pushing open the swing doors to the saloon.
A wizened old timer looks up from a corner table, then goes back to his whiskey bottle.
Alone at the bar sits a tall, lean figure in a poncho and cowboy hat, hunched over a cup of steaming black coffee. A large coffee pot stands on the bar next to him.
“Hey mister!” says the young man, who we now notice is dressed incongruously in tightly fitting lycra.
“Hey, are you Mister Voigt?”
Slowly, Jens! (for it is he) turns his head, and looks the young man up and down.
“Boy, you should leave here and return home. There is much pain in this place.”
“Mister, Uncle Fabian says you was the meanest goddamn son of a bitch alive. And if I ever wanted a partner for a killing, you were the worst one.”

Where the f*** is Rujano?

I’ve been holding off on submitting to see if he would surface somewhere.
He’s supposed to be riding the Giro for Androni, and he was at the team presentation… but he hasn’t ridden a race yet, and he’s not on any of their rosters for the upcoming races (whilst Serpa has been very visible). I guess we have to assume he’s gone of the rails again, I thought he be fun to have on the team, but I can’t pick him unless I see he’s actually riding a bike somewhere.

Anyone know?

It's actually pretty cool that the most popular rider is only on 36% of teams.

That means you did a good job on the pricing.

So somebody was making an all-doper VDS team, right?

I came across this story from 2008 the other day,
does anyone remember this?
Apparently Basso tried to start up a REAL all-doper team.
Awesome idea.

All my riders are shared by at least one another team...

So much for being original.

Ted, would it be possible (some time, not necessarily now) to find which team as the most riders that are only on that team? (aka: the most original team)

Nooooooo! I didn't make it.

In fact, I completely forgot about it until just now. I was researching riders last tuesday or so, feeling like I’d get my team in well before saturday, and then I got a job, and a family member ended up in hospital and I just completely forgot about it until I visited the website today.

Having said that, Ted or anyone with an admin login would be able to see that the riders I’d assembled (42 of them, hadn’t made my final cuts) weren’t exactly going to put me in reach of the podium.

Ah well, next year…..

If you like, you're more than welcome to share my disgrace

If I only had to endure half the shame of a normal VDS season, it’d be a pretty successful year.
