I'm in the same boat.
I picked Riccardo Ricco for my 2011 VDS team, and submitted said team well before the submission deadline. I fully understand the error of my ways, and plead with the VDS Gods to allow me to resubmit my team.

i just thought he was a tad overpriced...

I agree...loyalty made me pay up...I'm sceptical he'll make it worth it, but I can hope.

Doing a lot of that at the moment...

Hello! I had a feeling you might be lurking. So lovely you're here!
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Isn't it lovely to see Porte still doing well?
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Richie Porte is a great rider
He’s just not worth 16 points this year
"Oh man, it’s going to take days to kill all these people!"
I'm hoping you're wrong
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
yeah

I bought when he was 1, and he saved me from ignominy. I'm repaying the favour.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I'd have gone to 10
4th in Worlds TT and mixing it up in short tours and Clasica Seb.
"Oh man, it’s going to take days to kill all these people!"
I certainly underestimated him
He’s much more well rounded than I’d thought and looks set to score all the way to the end of the season.
Dat was echt een schwalbe!
last year's romandie and giro didn't convince you of this?

I think price would have been an issue for many people.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
I reckoned he's pretty decent
but still 9th with a 9min break in the Giro wasn’t tremendous.
Saxo likely forced into giving him bigger aims this year too.
It was pretty great for a neo-pro.
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
what odds he'll be allowed another 9 minute break now?
close to zero, I say.

He was 7th
If you wipe stage 11 away, he still gets about 10th and just about ties Mollema for best young rider.
"Oh man, it’s going to take days to kill all these people!"
You can't say that
All the conditions change. Maybe he would’ve had to work for the team etcetera etcetera.

Sure
You can’t relive races. But if you can’t relive races, people should stop putting an asterisk next to Porte’s Giro performance.
My point is that Porte’s real GC time + 12’45 is still a damn good time for neo-pro riding an incredibly hard Giro.
"Oh man, it’s going to take days to kill all these people!"
I didn't.
But his points are too exaggerated, based on popularity and so on. Same thing goes (a bit) for Sep. But I couldn’t not buy him :)

he usually tt's better than this. but, maybe he's holding off for later in the season.

He may have also been holding back to possibly defend the yellow jersey. I think he'll be doing a lot of support work tomoz

I thought he would do better on today's stage
It seemed like a decent fit for his abilities.

I think a lot of these guys are saving it.
That’s why I was impressed by Porte’s ride. I doubt this is his main goal.

French Champion previously.

I knew T Mart was going to have a fantastic season
But can a T Mart fantastic season hit ~1200 points?

I have him on my VDS team
Dat was echt een schwalbe!
I am disappointed in several up and coming rider's results
Maybe they just weren’t trying.
142. BUSCHE Matthew 82 TEAM RADIOSHACK 38’ 54" + 05’ 30"
155. RASMUSSEN Alex 25 HTC – HIGHROAD 39’ 25" + 06’ 01"
90. FUGLSANG Jakob 133 TEAM LEOPARD-TREK 37’ 17" + 03’ 53"
80. KOREN Kristjan 115 LIQUIGAS-CANNONDALE 37’ 04" + 03’ 40"
47. KREUZIGER Roman 77 PRO TEAM ASTANA 36’ 14" + 02’ 50"
48. SPILAK Simon 207 LAMPRE – ISD 36’ 17" + 02’ 53"
"Oh man, it’s going to take days to kill all these people!"
Really?
Busche – who he???
Rasmussen – can’t climb
Birdsong – injured in crash
Koren – why waste energy when you’ll be working tomorrow
Kreuziger – yeah, strange one
Spilak – I don’t think he’s all that, not convinced he has the stamina yet
I’m more surprised that VDB hasn’t done more to improve his TT situation, and that Mick Rogers didn’t do better. I expected about what we got from Peraud and Taaramae, but had high expectations of them to begin with. Great effort from Westra. Has there been a day this year when a Vacan hasn’t either been out front or at least top-10’d?
Busche is a domestique on Radioshack
He was a neo-pro last year. I only know him because he went from amateur ranks to Radioshack in a few months. He was a cross-country runner but picked up cycling.
He got 3rd in the Tour of Denmark last year. He didn’t make the cut for my VDS team, but I thought he’d have a pretty decent season.
Could be the same situation at Koren – why waste the energy when you have a teammate ranked above you.
"Oh man, it’s going to take days to kill all these people!"
Spilak crashed
Yesterday, I think. Don’t know how bad it was.

Paying his dues
If you’re interested, I can translate a short interview he gave to a newspaper here. Says he’s just working for the team, and that World Tour races are pretty hard on someone who, technically, is still a third year U23.

I didn't hire Kreuziger to score points in T-A.
I’m hoping for the Ardennes and counting on the GTs.
