"Wizard's first rule. People are stupid. They will believe anything they want to be true or fear to be true." -- Terry Goodkind
probably took a chunk out of the road
"Ants don’t worry, they operate like a fantastic team, they accept obstacles and deal with them in a positive manner, they don’t complain and remain positive. An ant doesn’t work on emotion, is proactive and always chooses the ant role."
I'm not sure I can handle two live threads and two video feeds at the same time...
plus I have to pretend to work too. My head might explode.
cause they'll prob show t-a after p-n.

35 dollars is not much for 2 GTs + assorted other races
Universal has been consistently working too right? (except for a messy site)
generally, yes. and, if you bookmark the correct page, the site's not that messy.
tho, i haven’t watched any of the cycling if it has those american commentators. even the live last year had those idiots.

No, all the Rabo guys who finished with the team get the points.
Riders who get dropped don’t.

yes. take the finishing riders and divide by that place's points.

Garvelo brought their classics team
I played around with some of the TT rankings last night. Garvelo had the weakest time trialists among the super-teams.
Rabobank, Liquigas and HTC were much higher. Leopard was the highest but only because of Fabian.
"Oh man, it’s going to take days to kill all these people!"
I just averaged for CQranking points for each rider in TT
Results are:
Rabobank – 19
Leopard-Trek 77
HTC-Highroad 52
Garmin-Cervelo 15
Liquigas 21
Take about Cance and Leopard drops to 13
"Oh man, it’s going to take days to kill all these people!"
i think so
"Ants don’t worry, they operate like a fantastic team, they accept obstacles and deal with them in a positive manner, they don’t complain and remain positive. An ant doesn’t work on emotion, is proactive and always chooses the ant role."
Yes. They swapped sponsors with Lampre
So Lampre-Farnese and ISD Neri became Lampre ISD and Farnese Neri
"Oh man, it’s going to take days to kill all these people!"
Rabobank: Freire, Boom, Flens, Gesink, Langeveld, Leezer, Tankink, Wynants
Some good TTers, but wouldn’t expect them to put the wood to HTC and Garmin
I picked Riccardo Ricco for my 2011 VDS team, and submitted said team well before the submission deadline. I fully understand the error of my ways, and plead with the VDS Gods to allow me to resubmit my team.
Morning all
Thanks for the commentary so far.
So it’s Rabo, HTC, Saxo, BMC?
That’s pretty surprising for Rabo and BMC.
conglomeration of oil companies, no?
"Wizard's first rule. People are stupid. They will believe anything they want to be true or fear to be true." -- Terry Goodkind
well, i think the word "katusha" actually means rocket/missile.
"Wizard's first rule. People are stupid. They will believe anything they want to be true or fear to be true." -- Terry Goodkind
well I think it's actually a diminutive female name...
….roughly, katie. But the association is, and the team was explicit about this, with the military rocket.
Don't see why.
I think the song was also mentioned, and may have been part of the inspiration for naming the rocket, but my memory of all this is super hazy. There’s definitely a whole set of associations with the name that made it seem apropos for the ‘russian team’.
Versus Channel and Universal Sports are now owned by the same company. NBC owns both.
Vs had ads for UniSports cycling on Paris-Nice yesterday. Weird.

Pavepavepave thought he could if the race doesn’t break up too much in the mountains.

Gesink is their GC hope here

That would be cool, but the overall does usually go to the climbier types.

SuperTed needs to rejigger the results page for TTT scoring first.
Looks like 6 Rabo finished together: Boom, Langeveld, Gesink, Tankink, Freire, and Leezer—all will get 8 points.
Then we need to track down the finishers for Garmin and HTC. TTT scoring always takes longer.
I yearn for the cobbles--Edvald Boasson Hagen
When do we see that in the VDS score?

Answered my question today…starstruck!
Can I put in another plug for a bottom of the page button
or a last post button at the top of the page. Its a killer to try to get back on a long thread when you are using ipad or iphone and can’t use the ‘z’ key
VDS results not updated yet?
I can only see 6 points for Lars
and since I have Gesink on my VDS-team….
see majope's comment above
waiting on ted to update.

It's not Ted's fault Gazzetta hasn't posted full results.
I yearn for the cobbles--Edvald Boasson Hagen
Although Ted, if you're around--I tried to put in Rabo, at least, since we know who finished with them
and got a ‘Debug’ message.
I yearn for the cobbles--Edvald Boasson Hagen
Yep,
the fact that you could enter the whole team is already new and I haven’t updated the ‘save’ function yet.
In a bit of a conundrum: I used to update TTTs by hand and give all riders on the winning team a placing of “1” which would reflect in their number of wins. However if use this new automated update, there hardly is a way of getting around giving them consecutive placings. That would mean the win would only show up for Boom, not the other Rabos.

and I’m not ‘blaming’ ted for anything.

What, exactly, are you looking at? When I go to CN, I see the team ranking, then this:
1 Lars Boom (Ned) Rabobank 0:18:08
2 Sebastian Langeveld (Ned) Rabobank
3 Robert Gesink (Ned) Rabobank
4 Bram Tankink (Ned) Rabobank
5 Oscar Freire (Spa) Rabobank
6 Tom Leezer (Ned) Rabobank
7 Tyler Farrar (USA) Garmin-Cervelo 0:00:09
8 Matthew Wilson (Aus) Garmin-Cervelo
Ending at 8th. Bici gives the same, Gazzetta just the team listing. Again, if anyone can find the full results, please post a link.

my hope lies in Basso or Cancellara's hands...
Oh I wish there was a 50km TT at the end of this thing…
not a chance
Basso getting seconds on Gesink, since his comeback he has only been dropped by the latter numerous times, in vuelta 09 and tour 10…
I’d put your cards on Evans, Pinotti or Nibali, if they manage to not lose more seconds that is.
Btw, why so suprised by Rabobank winning a TTT. You do know they have a young squad for years now, and they dominated TTT’s when they were espoirs with Rabo TT3 / Continental.
It just takes time to develop that talent. Now they are all 24/25/26/27… getting stronger each year.
This is why more teams should have youth development programs and contract those riders for 4/5 years and keep patience
Basso won the Giro.
In that Vuelta, Basso finished higher in the GC, although admittedly Gesink was injured. Then Basso won the Giro. Then Basso rode the Tour coming off the Giro win: why he didn’t have anything, I’d suggest. I don’t know whether this race really suits him though. Maybe better for someone punchier.
I don't see why
Scarponi isn’t looked upon as one of the men to beat. 1st then 2nd last two seasons. He’s not a great TTer, but not horrendous. He’ll attack on the climbs too.
And if it all stays relatively close on the climbs, then yes a TTer like Martin has a good shot, or Gesink given his TTT advantage. But could equally see Evans or even Ballan challenging. BMC could send Ballan off the front, and if he stays away then great. If it’s brought back together Evans can just follow then be strong at the end of the day, and in the TT.
I don’t think Basso is going to put himself out for this. And I think Nibali is focused solely on the Giro.
I think Scarpomi is similarly Giro focused as Nibali
Lampre didn’t hire him to win the T-A, they want the Giro. That said, the Cobbler is fairly even in his performances and could take this even if he is not 100%.
This has not been a great start for Greipel this year.
And what happened to our Cav-Greipel showdown?
Can anyone tell me who the five finishers from Leopard Trek were? Please?
