With the end of the Giro it feels as if the cycling season is now at the midway point. 4/5's of the Monuments have been in the books a month ago, and now our first GT is completed. In the Giro we saw an absolutely dominant performance by Alberto Contador. He won a mountain stage early added an uphill ITT win and had 4 other high finishes, while he led comfortably over the toughest GT course we may ever witness. BUT, how does this stack up to the April Philippe Gilbert had with the unprecedented Ardennes Quadruple after a disappointing 9th in the Ronde.
The numbers will show that Contador's Giro haul was an unheard of 1,550 while Gilbert managed a very respectable 1,225 points in April. Numbers aside, who do you think had the better month?
