Tour de France Video: Getting in the Mood
I've been checking on some youtube stuff to get myself excited for the tour. I figured since I already had most of the links sorted out, I'd go ahead and post some of my favorite TdF moments over the last few years. So, in no particular order- my top 5 favorite recent TdF moments after the jump
2008- Stage 18. After a ridiculous amount of wheel-sucking Barredo tries to outsprint Burghardt, and while he's not up to the task, he's at least saved some energy for a tantrum
2009- Stage 6. Millar denied while Thor triumphs in the rainy streets of Barcelona
2009 Stage 3. HTC Blows up the field. Much of the talk surrounding this stage was in the context of how in related to Armstrong and Contador. I enjoyed watching HTC take out their anger on the peloton and some quality talking afterwards (starting about 3 min into the video). I wish I could find a clip of the moment the split occured because Sparticus performed some of the most amazing riding I've seen in a bike race.
2009 Stage 13. Yet another great moment from 2009. Viewing the 2009 highlights has been a good reminder that the race will still have a lot of great moments even if I don't care about the GC. Watching GHH take this victory was pretty spectacular. I'm not much for sentiment, but even I was touched watching this finish.
2007 Stage 3. Cancellara at his finest. Possibly the only time I haven't been disappointed at being robbed of a sprint finish
Here's hoping 2011 will provide moments to be enjoyed for years to come.
Cheers

Really enjoyed that – oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! It’s tomorrow can you believe it, feels like Christmas when I was six!
Thanks for the pic :)

yep
I had to stop at 5, but that would’ve been #6.

yep, now in the mood, tx
Hopefully Cancellara can get in yellow again for a few stages so I can forget how LeOpard screwed up his Swiss Jersey

I don't think it too likely this year
unless, perhaps, Leopard wins the TTT…

My favorite tweet thus far
(since I don’t know how to directly link to individual tweets)
After tweeting “Ok it’s time to jump on the tweeting wagon! Better late than never…!? I’ve finally cracked under the peer group pressure …” he tweets “I’m working on Jensy but the big German tank is hard to move … Gimme another 24 hrs ..” I’d love it if Jens! got onto twitter
That would be fantastic. Hoping!

I think we can expect plenty of humour... and if he cracks Jens! then Stuey truly is the man,.

is the same as here, on the Twitter website at least: right-click the time/date just below the message and select Copy Link (or similar, depends on your browser).

Lucky I was sitting down. Now I might actually have to join :(
Thanks Zoe…

Your welcome! Peter Velits also joined today. Didn't think he'd have the same affect on you.

Yeah, I looked for that
But couldn’t find any decent video. Possibly I was looking wrong, but all I could find was Thor who couldn’t open a coke can.
"That'll serve 'em right!"
Best line.

more excitement from stage 3 2009
lars boom bridges across the split! a couple of others tried as well, but quickly wobbled backwards. it was an impressive display of raw power; been a fan ever since.

Nothing beats the shortened stage:
Watching the riders passing Col d’Iseran and Galibier in car in snow storms before watching the short stagewith the most awesome commentary by Leth and Mader. Classic.
"It's the greatest job in the world until Peyton comes off the field and you think his thumb might be broken and there's three minutes left in the AFC Championship Game and you're down by three to New England and you haven't taken a snap all year. Yeah, it's a great job until that point." - Jim Sorgi.
"If I couldn't play for the Colts, I would probably stop playing football." - Peyton Manning.
