McGrath Leads Cascade Classic
The Women's field descends off the top of McKenzie Pass during the Cascade Classic.
After stage 1 Kristin McGrath of Peanut Butter & Co 2012 wears the yellow jersey at Cascade Classic. Andrea Dvorak (Colavita/Forno d'Asolo) is second 17 seconds back followed by Erinne Willock (TIBCO/To The Top). McGrath and Dvorak were the best of four riders to survive a nearly day long break away that formed on the lower slopes leading to McKenzie Pass. 11 riders went clear including PB&Co 2012 riders McGrath, Alisha Welsh and Alison Starnes, Dvorak, third place finisher Kathryn Donovan (SC Velo), Kristin LaSasso (Primal/Map My Ride), Anne Samplonius and Jade Wilcoxson (Now-Novartis for MS), Carmen Small and Joelle Numainville (TIBCO/To The Top). A late move brought Kristin Armstrong (PB&Co 2012) and Clara Hughes (BC Cycle) up to finish in the top ten. Dvorak put in multiple attacks in an attempt to ride clear of the PB&Co powered group. A solo move at 5km held until she was caught by McGrath at the finish.
The race continues today with a 35km ITT in Bend Oregon.

Nice!
I hope your camera survived whatever descending method you chose to get down off that chunk of lava.

85 mph off the top on a moto was a bit er uh lively. I said we weren’t in a hurry to ctach back on too. New moto driver, I was chosen as pledge trainer.
This has got to be right there with Mt Hood fro pure scenic WOW factor. There’s a bike race too.

That first shot is brilliant
especially as there doesn’t seem to be anything like ground for you to stand on.
More coming Friday.
