Chris Horner's TdF crash speed = about 60 km/hr
That's a shot of Chris Horner's SRAM power meter graph ending at his crash on stage 7 of the TdF. Last recorded speed looks to be just over 60 kilometers per hour. Yikes.

...so around 37 mph.
I heard a snip-it from one of the commentators the other day that Thor hit 110 kph (~68 mph) on one of the descents in the Alps. I know that isn’t even likely the fastest speed in the race, but damn!
Heh. 60kph is gonna hurt.
I still have my powertap data from my big crash.

I was doing 39kph just 1 minute and 40 seconds from my front door. The result was a broken left hip and two years off the bike.
Speed certainly makes a big difference but,
I had a crash on a descent. I got my speed down to 45mph before I went off the road, I had a couple scratches here and there. Guy went down a few minutes after me in the exact same place and broke 6 ribs (4 in two places), broke his clavicle, punctured and collapsed a lung, and was just torn up with cuts and abrasions. They have since taken that descent out of that ride (Marquis de Sade).
I’ve seen people taken away in an ambulance with a broken neck crashing at less than 10mph.

I think Horner might still be a little loopy
He says he’s coming back to the Tour next year to win. (I’m loopy too. beause I’ll be rooting for him)

For his sake you'd just hope he makes it to the Tour next year
Horner is on a team that doesn’t have sponsorship for 2012, and if Team Radio Shack isn’t around next year, then Horner has to find a team that (1) wants to put a 40-year-old rider on its TdF squad and (2) gives that 40-year-old rider an opportunity to contend for the maillot jaune.
I can imagine (1) happening; I’d be surprised to see (2) on any team other than Radio Shack.

In any case, Horner is WAY over the hill...
He’d be a crap pick for anyone to choose in VDS or to hope on. wink wink wink Go with Roche instead!
(in all seriousness…I’ll end up picking Roche again next year anyway…)

I can't wait to ditch Roche at the end of the season.
But I’m enjoying the donuts I eat in his honor.

I need to start doing that...
…what should I eat for Oscarito?
Spanish Olives

He's got a shot in the Vuelta - and who knows...the WC...
Roche = 0 chance

Nope
only donuts count for honorary food indulgences

I was considering switching to eating donut holes if Roche actually scored...
Maybe he could eat, just the pits…
Since, the performance is “the pits”…
