The 2011 PdC Kit Order: Closes Wednesday Morning (EDT)

4854167175_a92dea4efa_b_medium

Sept 13: We're gonna make jerseys for sure, and bibs are just about there.  Arm warmers lag, but here's hoping - see above for photo of arm warmers with jersey.

The order window will close Wednesday AM (EDT).  Thanks to everyone for their patience on the invoicing.

Having problems with the Google Checkout widget below?  Make sure you've selected "wide" as your PodiumCafe.com preferred viewing option (look at the top right grey box, next to "view").

~

You want to look that epic, right?  In addition to a good set of legs and lots of post-processing, you're gonna need a PdC kit.  Lucky for you,  the 2011 ordering for Podium Cafe kits is now open.  We had enough interest to offer short-sleeved jerseys (we expect to make the minimums), bibs (we hope to make the minimums), and arm-warmers (who knows if we'll make the minimums).  Those of you looking for hats?  You're a lonely little group - we'll have to address that with another project.  And if the expression of interest in this round is any indication of future interest, the long sleeved jerseys made last time will be the last ones, ever.

Please read ALL of the information below before ordering.

Remember, we have to make the minimums, and we can't order stuff if we don't make minimums. But we also don't want to delay indefinitely either. So don't delay! Order ASAP!  The store is on the jump.

Star-divide

Pdc_icon_medium

First & Foremost:  This is a cooperative at-cost project.  That is, this project is the result of a number of us putting personal time and effort into designing, ordering, processing, and delivering the kits to our fellow PodiumCafe fans.  The prices and shipping fees you see are designed to make sure that all costs are covered, and nothing more.  If you have any questions, please ask them here.  We want everybody to be happy!

Color: It's black.  Sure, your monitor may tell you that it's brown, or perhaps even grey.  But really?  It's black.

Sizing: For sizing information, please consult the size chart at the end of the page. The cut of the jerseys is form-fitting. If you prefer a looser fit, size up. Also, if you are between sizes, I recommend choosing the bigger size. Feel free to ask questions here at the Cafe or contact Gav directly over email if you have questions about sizing.  There are enough of these things in the wild that someone can probably answer your question from experience.  If you want a closer look at the materials, check out Capo's custom catalog, here.

Women’s kit: Unfortunately we are unable to offer women’s specific jerseys, but the jerseys are available in XS. Also, we are offering a women's bib that has a shorter inseam or women’s chamois for the bib shorts at no extra charge. The women's inseam is 2.54cm/1" shorter than the standard bibs.  Chamois differences are pictured below:

  Capo_shammy-cut_medium

How To Order: You must pre-pay for all items. You may order as many or as few items as you like. It is not necessary to order a complete kit.  Easy, no?  Now, it gets a little complicated:

  • US Orders - We will handle orders for shipping to US addresses through the Google Checkout buttons below.  Click to add each item (after you've selected your size) to the Google Checkout cart.  When you're ready to check out, hit the Google Checkout button on the top right of the box.  It should be pretty clear from there.  Update: due to the limited flexibility of the shipping cost calculators, we have them set to make the assumption that if you are ordering two items, you are ordering a bib and jersey (thus requiring shipping in a flat rate box, at $10.70).  If it turns out that you have ordered, say, arm warmers and a jersey (which would fit in a flat rate envelope, at $5.50), we will modify the order and charge a lower amount.
  • Non-US Orders - For reasons entirely uninteresting to you, the Google Checkout order system will not automatically process orders for shipping outside of the US.  So, please make note of the items you want, and send an email to doodsmak@gmail.com, specifying 1) the item(s) you want, including size 2) your shipping address, and 3) your preferred method of shipment (US parcel post (slow & cheap), US priority mail (not so slow, still kinda cheap), or UPS (fast, rather expensive)).  One of us will manually calculate the total, including shipping, and send you an "invoice" via email.  This invoice will contain a link back to a Google Checkout page that will allow you to pay with a credit card.  Please note that Google imposes a 1% surcharge on non-US orders.

Delivery Time: You should receive your order in 8-12 weeks. As anyone who has done team or club kit orders knows, there can be delays in the production process. Please be patient. We will do our best to keep you updated on the progress of the order. Once we receive the order from Capo Forma, we will need to sort and send out the clothing to you. Please remember that the kit project is a volunteer effort. We will do our best to get your clothing to you as fast as possible, but there could be delays along the way, especially for international orders. Thank you in advance for your patience.

Important Note: All sales are final. Please read the product information and size charts carefully before placing your order. We can not process returns (because, well, there is nowhere to return it to!). Ready to buy kit? Get to clicking below. Happy Shopping!

Definitely interested, not sure about size...

I only have 1 real bib, it’s a medium George Hincapie I believe. It’s tight but I like it that way (5’8" – 190 lbs). So I think bib would be M. But for the jersey, I’m leaning towards L. Any advice? Thanks in advance. Also, what’s the deadline for ordering? Labor Day week-end?

by FrenchKheldar on Aug 24, 2011 3:25 PM EDT reply actions

Orders close right around the end of the month. We’ll keep it open as long as possible, but we need to get it in in time to secure our manufacturing slot. She Who Knows These Things should be able to supply an exact date soon.

As to the sizing, I’d say you’ll be fairly snug in the M bibs. I’m with 5 or so lbs of you, and ended up in the XLs, more for the length of the bib straps (I’m 6’1"). I can fit Ls, but wouldn’t want to hang out in the Ms. L jersey should be just fine.

My advice

is L. We’re the same weight, I’m just slightly taller. I wear the L and it’s appropriately snug.

Any dumb f#*k who looked at Garmin’s roster could figure that out, it wasn’t exactly rocket-science. Hell, it wasn’t even lutefisk-science.

by Chris Fontecchio on Aug 24, 2011 3:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Thanks both for your advice

I rechecked by Hincapie bib and it’s indeed M. I’m still hoping to lose weight at some point, so I might still get the M bib. L jersey it is for sure. I’ll try to complete my order by the end of the week…

by FrenchKheldar on Aug 24, 2011 6:16 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm gonna regret asking this...

But I’m intrigued by the concept of shorts that might stay up and stay down at the same time while riding a bike.
So let’s say “someone” has a hip measurement of 47". Do you think they should risk buying the 2XL bib shorts?? I’d hate for “someone” to waste $100.

by VirtKitty on Aug 24, 2011 4:55 PM EDT reply actions

Hmm.

I think the best way to think of it, is to look at the measurements on the size chart and compare them to some brands you already know fit in other lycra type material. So, like, leggings or tights or workout clothes, if that makes sense.

That’s usually how I do it, anyway.

waist measurements

can you get a more accurate reading of the size charts using waist? By my reading, I’d guess 47" hips might just as well be XL. But I get that by “using” math, so…

Any dumb f#*k who looked at Garmin’s roster could figure that out, it wasn’t exactly rocket-science. Hell, it wasn’t even lutefisk-science.

by Chris Fontecchio on Aug 24, 2011 6:12 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not following your "math"

Because I don’t see a hip measurement on that chart anywhere for the men’s bib shorts. But I’m guessing that men’s shorts don’t give as much extra hip room as women’s shorts would. Mind you, I’m willing to be wrong (I often am). Don’t know that it will help any, but I can tell you that “someone” has a waist measurement of 36".

Frustration has a way of releasing itself, rarely in a logical manner. -jsallee00

by VirtKitty on Aug 24, 2011 8:13 PM EDT up reply actions

My (cough) math

was to look at the correlating hip and waist measurements in the women’s sizes, then move over to the men’s section and using the waist measurement, try to guess where 47" hips would fit in. That suggests XL. But as you say, men’s designs might differ. So, not sure I am helping… :)

Given the circs

if we can redirect L/S interest to S/S plus armwarmers, we’ll make minimums I think.

does anyone know how the sizing compares

to champ sys stuff, or hincapie (aka us race cut stuff)? i’m usually a large top, but the chart says i should be XL. i assume i’m better off with an XL combined with more beer drinking than a L combined with less beer drinking.

I wear M Champ Sys stuff (race cut top, bibs)...

…and I’ve got a kit of Capo M that’s a tiny bit bigger bibs (but still fits well) and same, but a bit looser in the jersey. FYI, I tried a small Capo jersey and the zipper would spontaneously undo b/c I was stretching it too tight, so I’d really say order your Champ Sys size and you’ll be fine in Capo.

If I'm looking for womens bibs they will be the same measurements as mens bibs

with the exception of leg length? So if I order womens L they will measure the same as mens L or mens M. Sorry to be so dense.

yep!

That’s corrrect. We were able to do a shorter inseam for women, but we could not do a full-on women’s cut bib short. So, it’s only the length that is different for the women’s version. I went with men’s, because I like the xtra material for winter legwarmer holderupping, and I’m tall. I just RTFU during the summer.

I guessed M on my bibs - wear M on PI stuff too...

Based it on the fit guide up above since I have a 30" waist (I’m hoping the fit guide’s reliable for the bibs.). I’m 5’10" 155…so not so big…

On the jerseys I did order up to a L last year and am glad I did. I don’t like a jersey to be skin tight and Large has been great for me (I ordered another this time too).

by JustJoshinYa on Aug 31, 2011 3:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Help please folks

I have managed to be completely unaware of the existence of PdC kit. But I would like to be “in”.

I am in the Uk. Happy to pay up front inc whatever you estimate for shipping.

I would like jersey and bibs. Maybe arm warmers too.

I am unsure of sizes. I’m an ex-linebacker, ex-rugby player. I’m 5’11, 43 in chest. 35in waist, but often need to wear 38 or even 40 because of my thighs.
Due to my chest size, I guess I should be at least an XXL (I am 2XL in Italian makes, such as Giordana). But I sure ain’t 6ft 4 tall.
Likewise I’m not sure what to do for bibs – I might require the 2XL around legs/waist, but those are going to be some baggy shoulder straps if it’s intended for someone 6ft 4.

Bonus question – I am going to Tour of Britain, I have arranged for my company to pay for the hospitality. So, what to take for Thor to sign? I have a Cervelo Norwegian Champs jersey, but I so love that jersey, I want to still wear it.
Is there something PdC-themed that I can have him sign?

by ike2112 on Aug 31, 2011 3:06 PM EDT reply actions

Depends on what you're used to, in jersey fit

I’m pretty sure you’d fit an XL jersey just fine, but you might want a 2XL if you prefer a loose fit (however, the jersey’s gonna get kinda long, at that point). XL bibs should do you fine, too.

Have Thor sign a Swedish Nat’l Champ jersey. Or a green PMU hand (assuming he doesn’t run away when you walk up with it).

by Sui Juris on Aug 31, 2011 3:36 PM EDT up reply actions

Why would Thor fear the hand?

He’s still won it once more than Cav.

I considered buying a Credit Agricole green jersey, but don’t think it would arrive in time.

Thanks for the help on sizing.

Yikes!

I may also get another S/S jersey, since last year’s was more or less ruined on the very FIRST ride. (Unfinished chipseal downhill.) I still wear it a lot, but it’s amazing how many people here in dry California this summer have asked me, “You rode through a PUDDLE today???”

Order coming tomorrow, as the Mrs. does the Google checkout thingy, but not me. (I don’t do Google anything, except maps.)

Sorry to hear we didn’t hit minimums on the L/S jersey, as that’s one of my absolute favorite jerseys. Great material. Folks who didn’t get one really missed out.

Oh, and I think the chamois has a “perineal” channel, but probably the married guys here will grant you the typo of “perennial” channel…

This could be you

Any dumb f#*k who looked at Garmin’s roster could figure that out, it wasn’t exactly rocket-science. Hell, it wasn’t even lutefisk-science.

Pablo,

To keep things orderly for the Podium Cafe folks. Could you send your order request to the doodsmak email shown in the above.

 doodsmak@gmail.com

Then you will receive a Google Checkout bill that needs to be paid by credit card.
If you Holmovka is going to pay for you, it would be easiest if he then pays this bill with his credit card.

Make sense?

Thanks

moo

I just added a jersey to my original order (which was bib + jersey)....so ship together if you can...

I convinced my friend to wear the PdC colors….thus the extra jersey…

And he’s a much better cyclist then me, so he’ll make us look a lot better then I do! :)

My email is ike at blueyonder

If we're really close on the bibs and arm-warmers

I’ll order two if it makes the difference on reaching the quota.

Thx, Ike.

I wish I could order 2 sets of Bibs…but can only afford 1 pair for now. I appreciate you steppin’ up.
