". . .I have balls. I just went for it and when I saw I had a gap I just drove it."

i'm liking Tejay more and more everytime i see him race
and these comments only add to it.
"Ants don’t worry, they operate like a fantastic team, they accept obstacles and deal with them in a positive manner, they don’t complain and remain positive. An ant doesn’t work on emotion, is proactive and always chooses the ant role."
+1
He doesn’t seem like the next Lance at all too (a big plus for me). He seems to be his own style of racer and taking the risks he did yesterday shows that he really wanted the win/jersey. Easy to like his smile and style…

Inetersting that
Danielson has had well documented trouble in the pack in years past, but was doing a lot of the work on the final descent. He’s having himself a nice year.
"Everybody relax, I'm here."
I wonder if this tweet is related
I need to make a rule that I pause for 3 seconds before I give an answer to an interview question.

Badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger...
I think so
I like how he said he wasn’t disrespecting Levi, yet his answer could easily be interpreted as disrespect. I read it basically as… Levi is timid and has no balls.
"It's a lovely thing, feeling that momentum. If you're lucky, it's also about grace." Tim Winton
I thought so too.
With all due respect to Tejay, it makes him sound like a jerk.
Start fast, finish fast, and hope you're fast enough-- Cadel Evans
To add:
it was more like, “I’m young and more careless than Levi who has a wife and a bit more life under his belt.”
And I knew when I saw the interview that it would be misconstrued.
I agree, it was clear in the interview there was no disrespect intended.
But written down you can see it didn’t come out right.
"It's a lovely thing, feeling that momentum. If you're lucky, it's also about grace." Tim Winton
I did wonder about that ellipsis in the quote.
Start fast, finish fast, and hope you're fast enough-- Cadel Evans
Why?
Because he is young and said something with a little sauce added in?
That was the best interview all year.
What would Deming do? (+8:00 GMT)
Because of the (apparently unintended) implication that Levi has no balls.
Note that I didn’t say he IS a jerk, just that the quote (as printed) made him sound like one. A little sauce is fine, he did a great ride and he’s got a right to brag about it. But there’s a right way and a wrong way to put something like that.
Start fast, finish fast, and hope you're fast enough-- Cadel Evans
For frick's sake, it's not a problem for riders to have different riding styles.
On a scale from Moncoutie to, well, probably some guy who crashed as a junior and we never heard about, because he was “all balls,” there are good riders who take different levels of risk. That’s hardly a state secret. Levi rides with amazing finesse and total control. No reason he should all “balls out” to that, it would only screw with the system.
"BECAUSE THERE’S NO F*CKING SPRINTS." -Cavendish (asterisk added)
If only he'd been racing Lance
This interview would have been one for the ages.

In light of today's TT...and how upset he was at the finish
Perhaps Tejay is a tad overexcitable? Yesterday’s high was a little too high and today’s low a little too low?
Obviously though it was motivation for LL to ride his ass off today
All Tejay did was help LL out today.
Focus on easy first. If that's all you get, that ain't half bad - Caballo Blanco
Ed yesterday, just got home to Germany from my fan's house in Georgia

Considering Levi never takes any risks of any kind,
I agree with the misinterpreted version of Tejay’s answer.
