I just looked this up on the internet....never done that before.

I feel a quite hopeful now that the chemo will eat this bastard up :)

Unfortunately it's on at an impossible time so I haven't watched it. It's a shame because I love Colorado.

I have a couple of friends going through chemo. It’s never pleasant but the side effects don’t seem as dastardly as in earlier years. I hope that Canadian concoction is kind.

My mom-in-law beat NHL a while back.

She thought her most powerful tools were prayer, a good support group (formal and friends/family) and writing, writing, writing all about it. Sending my most positive and kick-ass-iness thoughts your way, LH. Keep in touch.

If you've got to have anything stage 3, NHL is one of the "best,"

prognosis-, quality of life- and effectiveness of treatment-wise. “Best” obviously still in quotes.

And not meant as self promotion, but we did get quite a few TT pix (and more to come shortly, same page). For your viewing pleasure. They’re in order of “who came by,” so using the start list, you can see who caught their minute / two minute / three minute men, sorta kinda. Link’s also at the fanshot below.

So says Doc,

Glad ya made the TT,
Friend drove me to Toponas to catch a glimpse of Stge IV.
I kicked around the ‘Sprint’ in Kremmling today, had fun.

Best wishes to you

I am sorry to hear about this.

My step-mom in going through chemo now. You are right, it touches everyone at some time. Her attitude is a great asset!

She uses this website to keep her many friends and family informed : www DOT caringbridgeDOTorg. Especially now that she is at the low point of her course of treatment, it saves energy but keeps her in touch with everyone. Maybe you will also find it useful.

never much watched NHL, now I have it.

Lemeaux still around? Heard he is cancer survivor

by LooseHorse on Aug 27, 2011 9:58 PM EDT up reply actions

he is indeed.

he’s part of the penguins’ ownership group. he’s a hodgkin’s survivor. i remember that, on at least one occasion, he received a radiation treatment in the morning and then played later the same evening. incredible. he’s very active in cancer-related fundraising, largely through his own foundation. more importantly, though, i’m glad to see that you’re in good spirits. you’ve got a lot of folks cheering for you! take good care of yourself, and please keep us updated.

My nephew's now 15 year survivor, friend's just finished 2cnd chemo,

you’ll kick ass. Take care and keep your sense of humor.

If friends or family offer help, maybe have a list of jobs at central place or w/a contact person, e.g. meal delivery, walk dog, bring book(s) or movie, errand run, load of laundry, sweep a floor…people mean well bit aren’t sure what to do specifically and you may not want to waste energy on multiple conversations.
Some friends will drop away, don’t let it get to you too much, sickness is terrifying, especially to Americans (I think), who can’t believe that willpower, bootstraps, rugged individuality, healthy choices and positive thinking aren’t enough.
Don’t worry about being too appropriate, it can be fun distraction.
Uninformed consent’s website offer is great, whatever works for you, maybe you have a person you can delegate chores or health updates to if you aren’t happy w/website idea.
The boredom and repetition of illness can be draining and surprising, prepare for it.
Let your friends help, they love you.

Good luck, I’m pulling for you. Hard,

There's also a website to coordinate help (caring bridge is more for info).

Have not used it, but it came recommended.

www.lotsahelpinghands.com

Basically, it makes sure you don’t get 3 friends bringing tuna casserole the same week, allows you to post about when you need rides, etc. Facebook and twitter may make it obsolete, or it may be useful.

1 down 5 to go! ....No alergic reactions - very pleasant & informative 7 hr. session.

..It’s all about who can recover before the next treatment – hah, imagine that, sound familiar.
I’l think of it as an 18 week stage race, every 3rd week is a MTF.

Thanks for putting up with me \o/

Dude, that's great.

Work that recovery well – time for a massage?

Maybe you can consider our notes here the equivalent of your name in chalk on the road. Allez LH!

by KnittingGene on Sep 2, 2011 2:11 AM EDT up reply actions

interestingly, EPO is now rarely during a chemo cycle,

because of the cancer risk of promoting cell division after compromising the cells’ ability to divide right.

BUT if your recovery is slow during one of the cycles, they may well offer it to you (or a transfusion)…at which point please don’t let your sport-inspired reactions block your legitimate treatment.

That's great news.

Hopefully if you feel like you’ve been hit by a dumptruck once or twice in the next couple of months that last one will be filled with awesome. \o/
