Saxo Bank 2012 Kit

Tim de Walle has kindly taken pictures of the Saxo Bank 2012 kit. Should be easy to spot the boys from the air. Not too keen on the front of the kit, but i do like the back. (What can i say, i'm a sucker for blue).

Glad to see they've kept the crotch eagle

I've never heard of an proper eagle that went for worms.

Now that Riis introduced the damned theme, there would be no chance to get rid of it now.
I do like the deep blue colour.

I love the angry eagle looking like he’s about to start savaging!

Aka Pigeons!

it has potential but is artistically sloppy

I’m curious what you mean by this?

both how it has potential, and how it’s sloppy?

First, I have zero fashion sense. :)

I love the colours. I just think things are thrown on the shirt with no holistic vision. And the shorts don’t seem to match (see the full body front pic).

It’s fine. But just seems lazy to me.

Second, I have zero fashion sense. :)

ha!

no problem:), I just wanted to hear more of your thoughts.

I agree that the shorts don’t carry many lines from the jersey but I’ve always preferred that. My aesthetic taste is more akin to the old years where everyone had black wool shorts vs. say polka dot jersey AND shorts.

I think this jersey/kit is sharp.

I really like the two values (colours) of blue. Especially as it will be unique in the peloton.

I like the saxo bank wordmark logo (not that it’s new) but it’s square, powerful and central. Classic looking.

I think I agree with you in “sloppy” or “lazy” if you mean that the top portion of the jersey layout is cramped. It seams there is too little space for the secondary sponsors and they are about to pack up, move over the shoulders and find some breathing room on the back.

The back is cool for visibility, but it’s a little flat.

I like the Saxo wording on the back

just would prefer a ‘fuzzier’ font

I love it.

Dig the blue of the shorts. And the matching shoes…chapeau, Saxo.

Hmmm. Not a fan of this one

The Eagle – what is its significance? A Riis thing? I don’t think it’s a Saxo Bank logo. It’s not integrated well into the rest of the jersey and in the wrong position.

I would have made the “SAXO” across the bank horizontal not tilted, and repeated the entire “Saxo Bank” graphic including the black/blue box outline instead. The back looks a bit unfinished to me.

Bjarne Riis = Eagle from Herning

I assume it’s a reference to his nickname.

Badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger...

Same as Garmin argyle

a way to brand the management company along with the sponsors. You can bet a dollar for every col you’ve climbed that the idea is not Riis’s but some management consultant’s.

ok

makes sense.

the crotch Eagle is (for me) much better than the bland Saxo across the back

I absolutely love the back side of the kit :)

it is powerful and sexy ;)
The new deep blue is wonderful, the slanted Saxo (without the bank) is easy to see from above and the eagle wings looks good (but would have been even better if they were more graphic), hope they will fly :)
Saxo have almost all years been very good with the bibs, they have a good hand in making the lines so they enhance the powerful muscles in the thighs and bottom, even Contador looked like he had a bottom last year ;)
I am not so fond of the front side, the lines on the bibs are a bit traditional, liked the ones from last year better, it was kind of heart-shaped.
And the Eagle on the jersey, they should loose that one or make a design where it was more graphic, not so natural, and integrated in the whole design, just like the wings are.
I think it is a mistake to have the square saxobank logo on the shoulders, it makes the top of the jersey look a little crowded with all the minor sponsors, would have been better to have the saxobank the same way as the sungard logo on the shoulders last year.
But all in all I like the new kit, mainly because of the new deep blue and the marvellous back side :)

I agree. Any team who looks after the backside gets a pass...and I've always thought Contador had a very neat bottom ;)
