Gilbert's bike...a little bit of drool pooled on my desk seeing that. Love that scheme

Very sexay. Especially how the saddle seems to have that matte coloring too.

Only quip? Could just as easily be German champ’s bike. Does not distract from its drool appeal though…

Flags

Belgium: black, yellow, red (vertical).
Germany: black, red, yellow (horizontal).

So what would have made it more distinctively Belgian, straight up vertical stripes?

I agree with Doug

I understand the difference between the two flags, but the way the design draws the eye is to the German flag orientation vs the Belgian.

I don’t know why.

I think it’s because of the fork crown area: Black, Red, Yellow, because the design draws my eye up the fork and then along the slashes across the downtube and top tube.

It’s only on the chain stay where it looks distinctly Belgian.

Perhaps they did it on purpose? Thinking they could sell those frames to Germans and Belgians?

Paintjob A+

BMC bike design? I just can’t find it in my heart to love it.

But!

You can store stuff in that opening below the top tube and the… mini tube thingy.

De cross gaat out that door.

The team riders use it to store the cheat sheet

for the “no I don’t think we have too many stars, there is no overlap, our cooperation will work smoothly”-speach

This does show one thing re: BMC's, however...

…they’re much less ugly without all the usual graphics.

Also, at least the proportions / angles seem more or less right, unlike some recent offerings from other companies…

…cough CERVELO…

I am not from Belgium, or a big fan of it.... Nice paint job...! Can I have a bike like that?

Then I will be Belgium #2 fan after Chris..!

Strava...? We are going for the TOP 10 this year...! Are you going to be part of something great or not?

Nice, very nice

But I’d either remove the black/yellow/red from the chainstay, or add the same highlights to the seatstays too.

Oh look, another carbon eye-sore.

(he says…but wouldn’t turn it down if it were offered to him)

Looks like BMC hired Cervelo’s paint job guy.

Who moved from Garmin to BMC? ........ Thor

Could he be the artist? Does the god of thunder dabble with crayons, watercolors and paint in his spare time?

Dabble, eh?

Did you think “I’m such a jerk” when you wrote that?

Sorry

Actual quote was “I dabble? Listen to me – what a jerk!” as thought-subtitles for Annie Hall (Diane Keaton).

Thought BMC had a newer frame? IMPEC? And yet no pros choose to ride it?

The junction of the top tube, seat tube and chainstay is a geometry experiment gone wrong.

Red, yellow and black. king snake or coral snake, depends on the sequence.

by phantom_51 on Jan 27, 2012 11:22 AM EST reply actions

that is odd

if i remember right, wasn’t there some issues with some of their bikes being a little too flimsy for pro’s tastes in the past? maybe hincapie riding their aluminum frame instead of the carbon one.
