Oh Linus, what has Veeral done to you?
Or alternatively, the best cycling photography I've seen except for Krisof Ramon, the Belgian photographer, whom Patel acknowledges. In case you're thinking this will be mainly Australian subjects, think again. The photos, as you might expect, are all black and white. I found the photo of Gerdemann the most surprising/shocking. This one goes ell beyond aging boy band star. Robbie McEwen needs to move on from making chamois cream to setting up a partnership with Lancome or another cosmetics company. If even Linus can look old before his time, and Durbridge can look almost as old as Klier, I'm sure there's money to be made.
The camera is brutal in all the shots though, but I'll be interested to see which ones you like best. Get the fainting couch ready. Enjoy!

I agree. It's one of my favourites. He seems to have borne the ravages of time better than sun.

yes. very much.
(tho, i wish it were in color to capture his eyes)

You can’t make Italians ugly very easily.

Eye of the beholder and a distinct dearth of Belgian riders...
"How strange it was to see men doing something beautiful. Something pointless and elegant." Tim Winton, 'Breath'
Tim De Waele
Jered Gruber
Timm Kölln
Roberto Bettini (I like the second one)
Balint Hamvas (that picture of Stybs in the pink fedora makes me smile every time)
Stephan Vanvleteren (that Briek Schotte picture, last one in the set)
Tim and Timm are definitely better than Veeral, in my opinion. I’d have them on the podium together with Ramon.
Nothing like rain and a headwind to give you good form on any bike!
"It is unfortunate that the Wall is not plugged in correctly."
I think Miyazawa's might be my favourite, although Mr O'Grady should be happy with that shot.

Don't particularly like th choice of B&W
Shows up EVERY tiny imperfection. I don’t need quite that detail. IMHO.

I like the closeup, but not to the point where the nose is almost always blurred.
Seems fair to want, what, 4 or 5 inches in tolerable focus, as far as depth of field.

rohan dennis is pretty good

He is a very talented artist for sure!
But for my test, his work is overly dramatic.
They look like miners, who were recently saved from collapsed mine.
Except Jens, who looks like himself.
In loving memory of the HTC- Highroad
.
I like the Bjarne Riis one best
Mostly because it looks like it should have a caption saying “Dude…wut?”
I saw a baby that looked like Cadel Evans the other day...
That's a weird lens. Very shallow Depth of Field also. Some of their noses are out of focus.
Poor Geraint Thomas. Those lips look painful. Did he forget his lip balm that day?
Like the the first Voigt picture, others are mainly portraits (perhaps
good, but just that to me). On my way to the first art lesson.
I thought so too...I guess there's some merit in saving the new crowns for a while. It is after all de rigeur to knock your teeth out
every few years. The question for the peloton might be, ‘Who doesn’t have crowns?’
