Hello again :-)

I saw a baby that looked like Cadel Evans the other day...

Good afternoon

(see I’m getting the hang of it)

by straw dog on Jan 28, 2012 8:38 AM EST reply actions

Not sure why he's Norwegian

David Quist, he sounded very American.

by tgsgirl on Jan 28, 2012 8:43 AM EST up reply actions

You can never tell due to all the American language schools. I met some people in Germany who I was certain were American, but they were Frankfurt born-and-bred. Vos always sounds a bit American to me too.

I heard the same. Dual nationality, perhaps.

Hello again everyone..!

Hahaha

Herijgers to Stybar: “Do you have any hints you can give David?”
Stybar: “I don’t even have enough hints to help myself!”

Lots of options

the tire which is ideal for sand is not ideal for the grass and the road. The tire on the bike now is called Griffo, which is sort of the standard tyre.

by tgsgirl on Jan 28, 2012 8:45 AM EST up reply actions

Bosmans (Bel)

I feel good and the sand is good, so I feel alright. I’m riding smoothly through the sand. In the race we’ll see, it’ll be a bit weird with the incredible noise of the audience. I even considered riding with earplugs, I even talked about it with Sven Nys. But then I should’ve started doing that a few weeks ago.

by tgsgirl on Jan 28, 2012 8:48 AM EST reply actions

Stupid question...

That is flemish?

Strava...? We are going for the TOP 10 this year...! Are you going to be part of something great or not?

One of the many dialects we have

honestly, if they talk dialect at the race tomorrow, I won’t understand a word.

by tgsgirl on Jan 28, 2012 8:50 AM EST up reply actions

Is wearing earplugs a skill requiring practice?

I wonder how long SVT has been practicing wearing that scarf indoors.

by straw dog on Jan 28, 2012 8:50 AM EST up reply actions

Takes getting used to it.

It would probably be odd

not being able to hear the other contenders etcetera

I was impressed that with an all-over orange bodycondom

he was also completely drunk.
Either he started very early, or he must be using beer suppositories.

The circuit

The big dune under 4 & 8 is called the Paul Herijgers dune. The third dune, which starts under number 9 is for now called the X-dune. It will be named after whoever become elite world champ tomorrow.

MAYER Yannick

is yawning at the start line, not a good sign.

Photogs not happy with the UCI, by the way

there are only four designated ‘photo spots’, the three dunes and the finish. All the photogs apparently got assigned one spot and are not allowed to walk the course, which means we’ll only see official press photos on the dunes or at the finish.

With the number of people there already today

Not sure it will be easy to walk the course anyway

Badger, badger, badger, badger, badger, badger...

by TheFigurehead on Jan 28, 2012 9:20 AM EST up reply actions

True

but why only pick those four spots? Now if something happens on any of the other spots, there won’t be any (decent) pictures of it.

by tgsgirl on Jan 28, 2012 9:22 AM EST up reply actions

Ehrm, Lars

Could you give us at least a bit of a chance please? Holy shit.

We need a word for that. Vosian? Vosish? Vosesque?

I saw a baby that looked like Cadel Evans the other day...

by John Cyclopunk on Jan 28, 2012 9:04 AM EST up reply actions

Works for me. Vosesque is difficult to type, Voshish is difficult to say, Vosian sounds like anti-dandruff shampoo.

I saw a baby that looked like Cadel Evans the other day...

by John Cyclopunk on Jan 28, 2012 9:12 AM EST up reply actions

I think “Vossome” came first. “Awesome” was invented later and caught on because it sounded like “Vossome,” so people immediately knew what it meant.

So, will we see the same scenario tomorrow:

some fast starters (Peeters/Vantornout) making an early gap. Then after 1-2 laps more guys come back to the front, a bit later some come close, but never make it.

So far

Vos v. van den Brand will be epic.

I saw a baby that looked like Cadel Evans the other day...

I think it will be boring

1 Vos (alone after the first lap)
2 Daphny (alone all race)
3 ?

1 V.D Haar NED-
2 Bosmans BEL-
3 V.D.Heijden NED –
4 Jouffroy FRA-
5 Sweeck BEL -
6 Konwa –
7 Theunisse

Sweeck is a first years U23. Not bad.

There are kids at my son’s high school who look a lot older.

Commentator explains that Lars rides every race for his sister.

He lost her to cancer. He also sometimes tweets that he puts the victory flowers on her grave.
