Around SBN: Full Coverage of 2012 Coke 600

If you enter a team name, as of 11.13pm EST on Feb 1st, it says I have to wait 72.8 more hours. I know I'm of the impatient type but usually by Feb 1st our VDS overlords have sent us their new set of rules for the year...

I saw that actually but since it was pointing to the 2011 rules...

I sort of dismissed it thinking there would be additional changes in terms of point structure, etc… I thought this had been discussed but without a final decision. So I guess that’s been set. My bad…

The date for the start of the game has changed to Feb. 5

and a lot of the dates in the race calendar is wrong, at least if you compare the dates to the dates in the UCI European calendar, but who knows, maybe the VDS is right and the UCI is wrong ;)

and the Contador decision on the 6th

one of these is likely to happen, anyway

Mine too.

I’m just worried that they are going to change the rider prices before the official opening….?
That would really mess my head up.

All 2012 teams will be deleted at the opening

just to avoid the points problem.

I have mine in a spreadsheet

- yes, geek alert – so I’ll find out once I come up with a name and can register my team. The name bit is actually the hardest part of this. All the rest is simply “Oh, I like you!”.

ahh, Josh

you gotta pay attention throughout the year. Ya know? Jot down some notes from all the threads. That’s how I got 2 of the 3 VDS names I used.
“Playing With Podium Girls” – came from a live thread in ‘08 where Paolo Bettini was messing around before stepping up on stage and someone said something like "aww, Paolo’s playing around with the podium girls."
“Komanda Dobrodetel” – the “Komanda” (means “team” in Russian) came from Holmovka in a live thread. I thought it sounded cool so worked it in to “Team Virtue” (“virtue” inspired by the Va state flag).

So there you go. Sift thru last year’s live threads and have at it. Picking a clever name is OVER half the fun.

I’m doing a U-26 team this year…should get better results than last year
