Project PdC Runway - the new kit edition (+poll)

Have we done this yet? If so, can we do this again? There are new kits out there people!

Are you swayed by the fluorescent shades of edgy green, or do you like your kits to have more crotch-eagle? Does argyle entice you, or would you rather see confusing fake Luxembourgish champ jerseys? Please, call upon your inner Armani and tell us -

mirror, mirror on the wall
who is the fairest of them all?

And for added word-count power: "As punishment for her wicked ways, a pair of heated iron shoes are brought forth with tongs and placed before the Queen. She is then forced to step into the iron shoes and dance until she drops dead." What? Snow White is a cruel, cruel story folks.

Argyle all the way!

Though I love me some argyle, and while any kit Cance wears gets extra points,

I think Lotto Belisol is this year’s winner.

Me too, although OPQS/Saxo are close seconds.

I am also exceedingly pleased that GE’s isn’t a fail.

Typo

you meant 68% less Contador.

Luxemshack at number 4?

I think every rider on that team is the Lux national champ, it looks ridiculous. Attacking crotch eagle ftw

It's good, but it's not the best. Personally, I'm just happy it's not awful.

I think with the exception of the very underwhelming RSNT kit, gs has given us a selection of good kits, although Vacansoleil is a little sameish?

no such thing as cool kids around here

I do think there are a lot of decent ones this year

The Lotto kit is just the most interesting and appealing overall to my eye.
If Garmin-Barracuda had more argyle—say on the sleeves—it would be a harder choice.

I like the fresh colors of GreenEdge but not the black on the shoulders; OPQS and Saxo will be easy to spot (plus that eagle is great); even Katusha is in my favorite color although otherwise the design is uninteresting. Vacansoleil is fine too.

RSNT is the only really blah one to me.

Argyle cuff on the right leg of the shorts

Here And the top of his socks too, maybe I can afford some Argyle. ;-)

I actually like the Shack kit. Except it looks like last year’s LeOpard National jerseys.

Is there an "anyone but Lotto Belisol" option

I’d take it, if so. All the others range from acceptable to stylish. That one is a two bagger.

Voted Vancan

It has a spur of the moment, overnight deadline type approach to it. I can almost see the management team asking themselves “we need a jersey ready by tomorrow morning. Who volunteers to design it?”
RadioShackenbourgh (good name, gs), came last of these.

by Uphill on Feb 8, 2012 5:52 AM EST reply actions

Me too.

For similar reasons. Everyone else is just bad, but Vacan managed to make bad look decent.

by Le Sprinteur on Feb 9, 2012 9:24 PM EST up reply actions

I like the Saxo Kit.

That shade of blue really does it for me. With that shade plus navy & black in the shorts AND the fact that the back of the jersery is plain with the large Saxo logo…very pro.
Also, we kid about the “crotch eagle”, but what I think is cool about it is the tip of the wing that shows up in the front (by the rider’s right armpit). Works for me.

Also, I just noticed the Garmin jersey on that guy is not FULL zip. Seems weird on a pro.

by swells on Feb 8, 2012 6:02 AM EST reply actions

Hmmm

None of these really do it for me. The one I dislike the least is surprisingly Katusha.

Looking at the voting I’m obviously in a minority…

by slowK on Feb 8, 2012 6:37 AM EST reply actions

I like Katusha this year.

But I needed to reward Garmin for re-upping the argyle. It was too subtle last year.

Lotto Belisol is the Harvey "Two Face" Dent of kits

From one side with the big Lotto on the leg it’s really cool but then they turn to red-legs-side and you frown and look away in disgust.

by Jens on Feb 8, 2012 8:02 AM EST reply actions

I love the red leg side!

Just like any fashion competition

The selection of model is so very key in how well your design works.

Saxo numero uno

OPQS works me with the contrasting blues. Makes Levi look taller (not really). And one of them on the list is what-were-they-thinking? not good at all for me but I don’t want to hurt feelings.

I just can't see how any of you can stomach . . .

. . . the pale. flacid argyle of Vaughter’s teams. De gustibus non est disputandum. I suppose.

yep clearer thankfully. out of the selection I find myself going for the garmin one but maybe because it’s castelli made which is top, top kit.

after that I like……………Liquigas because you can always see them coming. I know blue and green should never be seen but…………..

Still like Movistar kit, the best!

RadioShack's jersey is nearly identical to Leopard's from last year

Anyway. My fave is OmegaStep. Garmin-Barracuda is the best name in the peloton, hands down, but their jersey is all kinds of meh.
