It's a criterium race--naturally--and I'm being led out by a teammate for the sprint. We're already in the gutter, and two knuckleheads try to get even more inside the gutter to pass us. The first one makes it through. The second can't handle the speed and close proximity of wheels. He bumps his front wheel with the first one to make it through and goes down right in front of my leadout. I crash into my leadout and go tumbling head over heels onto the ashphalt road. My leadout is knocked unconscious, with many broken bones and ends up in the hospital. I land on my back, ripping my jersey to shreds and crack my helmet. I walked away fairly unscathed. Yet, the bright, white, flashing light I experienced as the back of my head hit the ashphalt was fairly unnerving, at the time and for many days thereafter. What did I just do to my brain??

There's a video of this crash online that got around 30k hits, but, if I linked it, it would just reveal too much. I enjoy my anonymity online.
