I'm a longtime lurker, commenting occasionally and have always played VDS and the stage predictor games, so I know what a great community this is! I will be leaving the US in 2 weeks to go study in Dijon for 8 weeks and I thought this would be the perfect place to ask for some advice on cycling while I'm there.

I really must have a road bike while I'm there, but I'm not sure what I should do for the bike situation. I had been planning on bringing my Orbea Onix, but I don't have a bike box and I have no experience traveling with a bike. Now I'm thinking maybe it would be best to buy a used bike while I'm there and sell it before I leave.

Any tips on what the best option might be? I would also love to here any experiences cycling in the area, as well as possible weekend cycling trips to the Jura and Alps nearby, with train as my only option of transportation. Thanks for the help in advance
