Giro Stage Predictor: Stage 3

Monday 7th May. Horsens-Horsens 190km.

Entry deadline 11:35 CET. I may extend the deadline into the race again, depending on circumstances. But I'll make sure that nobody who picks on time is disadvantaged.

Race organisers chose to ignore the daunting snow-capped peaks of the Danish highlands, so it's a flat one again.

Steve's preview at Steephill says:

The stage consists of three circuits crossing the eastern part of the Jutland around Horsens, an old Danish city on a fjord surrounded by moraine, hills and valleys formed by the last ice age. The first two circuits, each approximately 45 km and 100 km in distance, will be covered only once, while the third one, 14.6 km long, will be repeated three times. The Intermediate Sprint (Hovedgård – km 90.6) and the GPM (cat 4, 159 m – km 103.8) are in the neighborhood of Denmark’s highest point (Ejer Bavnehøj) are located on the second circuit. The last 45 km take place on a fast urban circuit in Horsens. The last 5 km are almost straight with the last bend well before (2 km) the finish.

Stage 2 Results: "Cavendish, King of Herring Herning."

Cav, Goss, and FDJ's youngster Geoffrey Soupe.

Here's Geoffrey's awesome wiki picture (via Petit Brun, Wiki commons):

Of course nobody had Geoffrey, but nine smart people had the Cav-Goss combo. One of those nine was "sparta, and after his(?) podium sweep yesterday, "sparta is now our outright GC leader,or cappello rosa.

Rules

For each stage, pick three riders. The order of your picks does not matter.

The first three riders on the stage score. The basic score is stage winner 4 points, second place 2 points, third 1 point.

In addition there are bonus points awarded. Stage winner bonus is 24 points, second place bonus 12 points, third place bonus 6 points. The bonus points are split equally among all the DS's who picked that rider.

The entry deadline is the official start time of the stage. Now, people may want to be sneaky and change their picks before the stage starts when they see what other people's picks look like. That's fine, it's a normal part of the game and quite acceptable - but we'll allow strictly one change. You can change all three riders if you want, but it has to be in one new post. If you want to make a change, post it as a reply to your original post.

If you miss making an entry for a stage, no problem, you're still in the competition - you just score zero for that stage. Also, there's no limit to how early you can make picks, so if you're going on vacation, feel free to enter ahead of time for as many stages as you want.
