There seems to have been a run of London-centric posts on PdC recently. As ever, I'm late to the trend, and leaping on the coat-tails of better men, and women. This one is another invitation.
It is the Smithfield Nocturne tomorrow night. You can read all about it here. The main event is the elite criterium, which will feature some decent domestic teams hot off the Halfords Series of crits (names like Downing, Backstedt (yes, the Roubaix one), House (no, not the Hugh Lawrie one) and Lloyd), as well as mini teams from Sky (Appollonio, Sutton, Stannard) and GreenEdge (Goss, Lancaster). The race was won last year by Alex Dowsett. This year, for the first time, the elite men will also be taking part in an elimination race, a road version of the devil so beloved of track fans. I can't stress enough how excited I am to watch a road devil - Didi does not count. There are a number of support races, including an elite women's race. You must forgive me, but there are fewer names I recognise in that, but it is exciting to see Helen Wyman on the startlist.
I plan to get there around seven, in good time, I hope, to secure a vantage point for the cut-off line in the devil. It'd be good to see as many of the PdCers as can make it.
