The big points today were for Rolland, who won with panache from the day's megabreak, and for rising star Pinot, who rode aggressively and surged out of the yellow jersey group to take second. Only two of our DS's picked both. bought with blood was unlucky to score 20 points yet not win a stage. However, frans verbiage almost achieved the maximum possible score with Rolland, Pinot and Van Den Broeck. Quite a feat when the podium is not just favorites, and a well deserved solo stage win.

In the GC, andrewp held on to the casquette jaune with some conservative picks, but his lead has narrowed with Uphill and Holdenmate now the closest of those in hot pursuit.

In the mountains competition, frans verbiage did not elect this as his queen stage, so the competition swung on both scoring well and doubling points. French Khelder doubled up his picks of Rolland, Froome and Van Den Broeck to take the polka dots. However, we can expect big swings as other DS's play their "queen" cards later in the Pyrenees.
