Rob Goris (30, Accent Jobs) passed away last night

I don't particularly want to talk about it very much because damn it, I'm sick of people dying so young for no reason whatsoever, but it feels like Rob Goris deserves an article on here. Won't matter much in the grand scheme of things, but it just feels like right.

Rob Goris, cyclist for the ProConti squad Accent.jobs - Willems Verandas passed away in his sleep last night. Goris suffered a heart attack. His girlfriend Katrien van Looy, granddaughter of infamous Rik van Looy, was with him.

Goris was a newbie in the professional peloton. This was only his second year as a pro, and many thought of him as the new Ludo Dierckxens. But even before his time as a cyclist, he was a gifted athlete. Goris was the former captain of the Belgian national icehockey team, but he dreamt of being a professional cyclist. In 2010 he won the Belgian championships for elite riders without a contract. In 2011, he signed for Verandas Willems. A dream came true.

Last night Rob Goris and Katrien Van Looy were the central guests in Sporza's Vive le vélo talkshow. A few hours later he died in his hotel room in Rouen.
