So just few days ago Sarah and I launched one of our crazy ideas to try and do something cool, fun and nice for women's cycling. We've been amazed and delighted by the response so far and I especially want to thank all you cool kids here at the Cafe who've helped us spread the word and who've made donations. Together we've raised just over $1k in the first four days of our fundraising drive, exceeding our original goal and now giving us the opportunity to give some better prizes to more riders. So thank you again, and here's some of the exciting news about what we're doing now.
First up, we've added another race to the competition. It now includes the Giro Toscana as well, which begins this Wednesday. That also means that nominations will open during the week. So keep an eye out for any blogs, tweets, facebook posts, videos or pinterest boards that relate to the race and nominate away.
In addition to this, we will now be able to give away multiple prizes of greater value. We're not exactly sure of the breakdown because the fundraising drive continues alongside the races so there are a few weeks to go and we may wind up with a truly amazing total. Rest assured that whatever we do raise, Sarah and I will provide a full accounting of how the money is divided and used. Our goal is to get as much cash in the hands of the riders as possible and to give them a few cool things that will last as mementos (like the tshirt).
On that note, we've had a couple of people suggest that we should look at making real jerseys. That's something I'm looking into, but as we all know, minimums are problematic in that area so we'll see how it goes, and of course cost will likely be a factor.
Anyway, it's all rather exciting and it's proving to be a lot of fun. So thanks again folks for making something cool happen! I love this place.
