Zabel Jr., who will turn 19 in December, rides for the Rabo Continental team.

Trivia: Rick's grandfather Detlef Zabel was also a cyclist. Although his role on the East German national team was largely a supportive one, Detlef did win an accordion for his 9th-place finish in the 1955 International Peace Race.
