I am not the best organiser. I am going to a conference in Ventura, CA in February, and as I have to travel all that way, I tagged on a couple of days for sightseeing. Coastal redwoods, Big Sur and the like. With a hired car. Which would have been a great plan had I not discovered that my licence had expired half a year ago. My lovely authorities are unable to issue a replacement in time, which means I will be stuck with public transport (LAX-Ventura, any ideas?)

But when I'm there, I can hire a bike!

So I'd really welcome route suggestions. Also some general advice: how small do roads need to be for safe riding, for example?

I will have two and a half days: perhaps I could try a MTB one day. From the map, the area seems great. I am just a bit worried I get lost...
