Cancellation open thread: No Kuurne, No GP Lugano

Patrick Verhoest

Bad snow weather hit most of Europe during the night. In Lugano organizers pulled the plug early and even in the land of hardmen Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne made the only safe choice in deciding not to take any chances. So no live racing today.

The race in Belgium was in doubt already yesterday as reports looked grim but the final decision was made this morning as the roads were not only snowcovered but there was risk of snow and freezing rain during the day. So an inevitable decision really and one that was welcomed by the riders no doubt.

This leaves the Clasica de Almeria in Spain the only major roadrace to go ahead today. In Belgium attention turns to the cross finale in Oostmalle. Those dummies will race in any conditions.
