Just found out about this. In case anyone has the time and money and interest and legs, this would be great fun. A 7 day tour starting and finishing in Nice - 800 kms and 17000+ meters climbing. Food, housing, medical and tech help included - along with hauling your junk around from town to town. Beautiful scenery and some serious climbing. Surprisingly, it's not that expensive - 800€. (i'm guessing the accommodations are perhaps somewhat spartan)
A list of some of the cols: Saint Roch, Turini, Lombarde, Madone (not the "LA" madone), Couillole, Champs, Allos, La Bonette, La Madone d'Utelle (not a col, but a mtn top), Vence. I've ridden most of this and it is indeed a beautiful parcours and very challenging. On the other hand it looks like nothing crazy hard like La Marmotte or something like that. I suppose the difficulty is in doing this every day for a week.
What the 3rd link above more or less says: The Club Cavigal of Nice is organising this "rallye-raid," which will start and end in Nice, from the 23rd to the 29th of June 2013. Seven dream stages with the ascent of 7 of the most beautiful cols in France. Each day, a timed ascent will allow you to measure yourself against yourself and people of your age. This challenge is open to everyone. You'll be enitrely taken care of by a team that will follow you throughout your stay, up to arriving at your place in the hotels in the mountains for a well-deserved rest.
The city of NIce will welcome you at your arrival on the 29th of June on the mythic promenade des Anglais at the tour de france village. A grand evening closing ceremony, presided over by the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, will provide the occasion to revisit the highlights of your "parcours" and to receive your trophy. You'll also benefit of the opportunity to be present at the team time trial of the tdf as a VIP.
From some of the other ad: Each night there will be prizes as well as lots drawn and tastings of local products. All along each stage, you will be filmed, interviewed, and each evening there will be a debriefing in which they'll show you the videos of the moment. Surprise personalities will come and give their impressions and motivate you in your efforts.
Apologies for the clumsy translations.
This is limited to 200 people. Apparently it is still open as they were handing out flyers yesterday, but i'd imagine if you're interested it would be best to not hesitate.
Wah-la, c'est tout.
