Alright, pretty much every year partway through the Tour I say something along the lines of "Dammit, we should've organised a Sydney get-together". This year I'm my most organised ever because I'm saying that before the start of the race.
So here's what I'm thinking. The AB Hotel in Glebe is a pretty nice joint and they've got a neat function area where I reckon we stand a chance of being able to book the Fireplace room and watch a stage within convenient distance of a bar.
Based on willj's certainty that Stage 19 is going to be the Queen stage and the fact that it's a Friday night, I'm suggesting we see if we can book it for that night, starting around 10pm and so on. I haven't made an enquiry with the venue yet because I wanted to gauge how available/interested people may be in attending. I'd think we need somewhere around 20 people to make it worth it, and of course, if we wind up with 200 or so, then we just book a bigger venue.
- You will get to meet cool people from the Cafe in person and buy them a beer/have them buy you a beer.
- You will get to watch the coolest stage of the biggest race with other people who share your passion/addiction.
- There is a fireplace and fireplaces are awesome, especially in winter.
- I will probably be in attendance.
Ask yourself, what would a Prime Minister do?
