France tv has available a two part documentary program (both episodes about 55 minutes) to celebrate the 100th Tour.

Part 1 - http://www.francetvsport.fr/la-legende-du-tour-de-france-1re-partie-160777

Part 2 - http://www.francetvsport.fr/la-legende-du-tour-de-france-2e-partie-160779

Both currently NOT geo-restricted for this viewer.

The official blurb (gnomed - got to get 75 words after all)

"Run for the first time in 1903, the Tour de France is the showpiece of cycling. Since the pioneering, climbing unpaved passes with their spare tubes to teh champions doped with EPO the race has undergone considerable changes....The greatest strength of the event is the incredible popularity of its champions - Coppi to Bobet through Hinault, Indurain and Armstrong they are symbols of their time. Through these iconic figures tell the story of 100 years of cycling in this documentary"

The footage is excellent, and in particular of the early races in the first episode.

(Not understanding the French commentary is no barrier to enjoyment)
