Wiggins plans the way out finishing with Rio

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/wiggins-to-quit-major-road-racing-in-2014

Very interesting article in the Times with an edited version on CN above. The original article is available online to subscribers only. There is realisation from Wiggins that his days as a GC rider are over, and perhaps were only a small window of opportunity which he took with both hands.

He certainly hints at being isolated within Sky who took the (logical) reason to back Froome perhaps his allies. He states that next season will be his last at Team Sky before reverting to Team GB Cycling with the team pursuit at Rio as the career finale. What a finale that would be!

Back to the road, there are no clues as to targets other than he his putting weight back on as part of the track crossover. Given his previous comments maybe, maybe Paris Roubaix could be his target next year? It would certainly bookend an outstanding road career too.

Whatever the future holds it seems by Summer 2016 one of the modern sporting greats will have turned his last pedal.
