Living and cycling in Paris?

Hi all,

I've an opportunity with work to move to Paris for a year or two. Where would you recommend people to live if they are interested in cycling. I dabble in most disciplines – road, xc mtb, cx and track. I'll be bringing over 1 or 2 bikes and want to live relatively close to the city centre.

After some initial research, arrondissement 12 seems well suited to my needs. Weeknight short spins in Bois de Vincennes, La Cipale velodrome is a short distance, Fontainebleau is a 30min train ride away for mtb spins. Also there is a 250m velodrome on the next train stop after fontainebleau.

For long spins it seems Chevreuse is the best spot near to the city but the 12th isn't great for getting out there.

Are there any track leagues or much of a cyclocross scene in Paris?

Finally what would one expect to pay a month for a 1 bedroom apartment in the 12th?

Merci.
