La Course by Le Tour de France - the women's race on 27th July - has launched, and this is what we know.
- The race course is 90km long - 13 laps of this circuit, up and down the Champs-Elysées
I think that looks most like the final stage of the Tour of Qatar - check out how that was raced this year and last year - but I'm not sure how much it tells us - no cobbles in Doha, but I guess less wind too, and a day race is a lot different to the last day of a stage race. We knew it was likely to be Dutch-style sprinting anyway, but will it be a bunch sprint? Kirsten Wild must be rubbing her hands with glee...
20 teams will race, for a €22,500 winner prize - same as the men get for winning a stage
It'll be on tv! Here's where:
- There's a little promo video - I'd embed it, but who knew Le Tour uses DailyMotion, not YT or vimeo?
- There's more information on the LeTour website, with quotes from all kinds of people, and of course on their twitter
So, what do you think? Let's chat in the comments!
