GC battle: what battle? With all the time differences determined by the TTT, everyone's has been holding their cards close to their lycra covered chests. The Garmen have been bluffing that Ryder still has a shot of the win or the podium though, but we can all see that they are holding not much of a hand. Scarface has had a meeting with Irish tarmac, I assume that his top-5 aspirations will now need to be adjusted to top-10.
Sprinter's battle: we've been spoilt for variety, with a dominant Kittel win on stage 2, and a poorly placed Kittel winning in dominating fashion on stage 3. It is a riveting waiting to see from what position does Kittel unleash his inevitable winning sprint from. Variety I tell ya!
Spare a moment to think about Ale-jet's strategy here; he has not sprinted at all on 2 chances. He either lost out on 2 chances to win, or he let the others blow their legs only to come in 2nd or 3rd after the German. Now, if the rumors are true and Kittel leaves before the mountains, then presumably, he has the freshest sprinter legs out there, the freshest 40 year sprinter legs out there though. Does he have it in him to win a Giro sprint when Kittel leaves? I'd love to think so.
