With a GT over and doping talk residing in a two day old post race thread I thought it may be better to centralize it here. Obviously dope talk can be pretty boring yet somewhat enticing as well(guilty pleasure much?). With the Giro over it is time to look at performances. I personally did not see any true suspicious performances at this race, first GT in awhile it seems that way. Riders were not attacking all over the place and seemed to struggle to put consistent top days together. Michael Rogers winning on Zoncolan seems to raise the most eyebrows but he had a 7 minute head start and was on some good form.
Oh and L'equipe trolled us all by releasing Chris Froome and Rich Porte's training times on famed Tour warmup climb la Madone(from 2013). These times beat Lance and US Postal buds times.
Chris Froome 30:09
Richie Porte 30:24
Tom Danielson 30:24
Lance Armstrong 30:45
It surprises me Froome would even release this info( also in his autobiography) as it easily opens him to criticism. To me it is basically saying "believe I am better clean than the best doper and most prolific Tour champion" or believe he is doped. But I am quite skeptical of the Sky boys anyways, Richie Porte's numbers shock me even more. I am a bit worried that after a very believable Giro the Tour will turn into a bit of a circus, with known cheater Bert and Froome going at it like crazy. Regardless of proof it will be seen skeptically by many. Hopefully this doesn't happen.
Anyways this is the thread to dope it up, but as usually isn't a problem on PdC, keep it civil stupid!
