The world and his wife wanted to run bike races in May, clashing with the Giro. Now it's June and ... there's only this SSR in a small country which you could happily tour in a day. Go figure.
But here we are with four stages and a prologue running through Sunday. Official site here - http://www.aotdl.com/
It's Cat.5 FSA-DS but there's a thin field, low on quality (3 PT, 6 PC, 4 Conti teams) so there's low-hanging fruit for any VDS who's sent someone here.
Oh Danny Boy won last night's prologue - http://www.procyclingstats.com/race/Skoda_Tour_de_Luxembourg_2014_Stage_1_Luxembourg - and Trek have some Luxembourgeois here too. Laurent Didier wears the 1 dossard for them and there's a couple of others.
Gripes is the favourite for today's stage, Saxoff have a low-key team, the Climbians have sent a couple of guys (Pantano, Chalapud) straight from the Giro, Leeenos is a past winner of the race.
This is the only ticker I can get to work for me at the moment - http://www.wort.lu/de/sport/skodatour-de-luxembourg-liveticker-der-ersten-etappe-5390422db9b3988708031271 - but there are others. There may be live viddy knocking about on occasion - start and finish only perhaps?
So to the $64,000 question ... is this the race where you-know-who eats his donut?
