Mulhouse - Le Planche des Belles Filles 161,5 km
EDIT: Alberto Contador has crashed and abandoned the race during today's stage.
Six categorized climbs yesterday seemed a little puny to the organizer so they added one extra today. That plus the first real mountaintop and it's on July 14, the French National Day , should make this one of the craziest days of this TdF.
Crystal clear winner of the Day: Thibaut Pinot
I know we're all expecting Contador to crush this now that Froome, the human spidermonkey, is out but if anyone is going to touch him it might be Pinot. It's his home area and he has been targeting this stage especially.
Amy's Wine of the Day: Guy Bussière Domaine du Val de Saone Gamay Flûte Enchantée
The importer tells me that "The wine is absolutely dry, the first fermentation occurred naturally, and then the wine goes through methode Champenoise, without the addition of any So2 or dosage. Pure, vibrant, evolved, surprisingly complex, based on the 2008 and 2009 vintage, this is absolutely one of the best sparklings we've ever brought in, and you know how much we like our fizz."
I say: Salmon colored, with small bubbles. Dry. Color and label had me thinking light and easy but there is a lot going on here.
