Bloody hot and humid here, but not really complaining because we've had it pretty good this summer so far.
Started my weekend this morning with a well attended memorial ride for Edwin Gardner and a very somber reminder of how dangerous it can be out on the road, even two blocks from your home. Gardner is greatly missed by Charlestonians because he was such an advocate for everything that had to do with quality-of-life improvements. In other words, cycling was just part of his advocacy. His wife is a client of ours at our Pilates studio, so it also hits a little close to home. So, always play it safe out there and stay aware.
After the RIDEdwin, some of us went out for a few more hot miles. We let it rip for one 10 mile stretch that made us all close to nauseous. Image of the day would have been when we found a hose on the side of a gas station and poured it over our heads until we got a little relief for our searing brain cells. Tomorrow will be more of the same, in fact, even warmer. So the plan is to ride a little calmer and bring a lot of electrolytes.
Sorry for the lame fill in for Pablo, but when I didn't see a post up yet to read about people's rides and enjoy the photos, I kinda panicked.
