Le Tour '07: London Prologue Live!!

Oh, so sweet to write those words. We actually made it to the start of a Tour de France without the sport drowning itself in a new scandal! Actually, wait a moment, I should check...

Nope! Nuthin! In the world of strange coincidences, yesterday was a new traffic record here at the Podium Cafe, breaking the record set, um, last year the day before the Tour. Thankfully, it has more to do with Google News than bags of blood.

Anyway, today is a day to celebrate the start of a new Tour, the undisputed high mark of the Cycling calendar no matter how exciting things might get at the Giro or de Ronde. I can't remember looking forward to a prologue this much. Here's your live thread to discuss the race in real time... let's get started!

For the prologue challengers out there
I'm not sure about our 5 turn rule:
The winner of the opening day two years ago has not yet tested the opening route in London. "I hope to see the course [on Saturday before the late prologue start]," he said. "I will ride it as many times possible. Dave Millar told me it has maybe one turn where you will have to feather the brakes a little bit, but other than that there are wide-open boulevards and it is pretty straight forward."

London weather
Sunny, high of 71, winds from the west at 12 mph. Out into the wind, back with the wind. Most of the course is probably sheltered by buildings and trees.

Good morning all!
I just woke up from the weirdest dream: I was sitting down to watch the prologue and they were holding a mass-start race. Also, the riders were carrying all sorts of crap with them, like a change of clothes. Nobody knew why.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
