Chavanel was faster than Gilbert up the last ascent, so he may yet get there. Especially after I said 10 minutes ago that he had no chance.

Gilbert fading??
Very, very interesting race unfolding: Gilbert has a teammate in G3 sitting on, since his captain is ahead. Gilbert seems to be dropping, and maybe he should let his rested teammate catch up. The four of them could hammer back the gap, and if so, Gilbert would be holding all the cards. Still 12km to go, plenty of time.

going backwards. 26" now. Pack at 39". He may solo in for second, with 8km left, but we'll see. He doesn't seem like he's catching Chavanel. Nor does anyone else.

Flecha brings Visconti and Willems up, 10" to Gilbert.

A frozen 'cross ride from this last weekend. As you may be aware we have had siberian conditions here in the UK with a low of -14 degrees centigrade here on saturday morning. It was a beautiful sunny morning so i layered up and set off for a snowy 'cross ride along a roman road. I checked the thermometer when i got back to find it had been -10 throughout the ride! I had a lot of fun though and the views were spectacular.
