Tech Talk, Swiss style....

Let's break down Floyd's BMC Team Machine SLC01 that he used to capture the inaugural ToC.  The frame is made of high modulus Easton carbon fiber with a unique seat cluster that reminds one of the old Cannondale MTB frames hanging on Jerry Seinfeld's wall.  The reason for this design, "create more rigid joints, shorter tubes and more tube/lug overlap to maximize surface area for bonding strength" (VeloNews). This translates to a stiffer frame than traditional designs.  The integrated skeleton design delivers a light and responsive frame that is tour proven and distictive.

BMC builds the frame with Campy Record carbon components, Zipp 404 Wheels and Easton fork, post, stem and bar.  The Zipp rims are laced to DT Swiss 240 hubs (as reliable as a train ride to Adleboden) and the team pedal is the Speedplay Zero ti.  A fine bike using the best Swiss, Italian and American technology available.  Look for them at a podium near you.
