Wow, that Sucked!

What was to be selection day in Tirreno-Adriatico -- maybe the first really big selection of the season -- resulted in a sprint finish just behind escapee Leonardo Bertagnolli, and no change in the overall.

Big losers in the race have to be Discovery and (as usual) CSC, both of whom had riders ace the decisive time trial after giving away chunks of time, presumably because they were betting on their mountain goats Savoldelli and Basso duking it out for the overall this morning. Neither team can be blamed, of course, for such rotten luck but in the case of CSC it seems to sum up their entire season so far. And so, Thomas Dekker, who wasn't even born when Lance Armstrong started doing pro triathlons, is a deserving if somewhat accidental winner of the ugliest jersey of the young season.
