First, let me point out that my Spanish is 100% Sherlock-generated, so you won't hurt my feelings if you point out any, um, abuse of license.
Anyway, nice day for the old fa... riders today, as Erik Zabel puts the U27 Project in its place for an afternoon. I missed the sprint, but the nice thing about Cycling is that absent pushing and shoving or other gamesmanship in the finale (see Eneco Tour), you can pretty much distribute praise based on the order of finish. So good on old Erik, and F-you to all the young punks who couldn't manage better than F. José Ventoso's fifth place. Take that!
Race reports:
- Vuelta stage 4 captured by Pez of course, and VeloNews. I suppose the Team Milram writeup is worth a gander too. Meanwhile, CN does a history piece on the gringo menace, while historians over at Cycling Revealed stick to the present tense.
- Over at the Tour of Britain, Martin Pederson had the stiffest upper lip in conquering the day's stage to Castle Douglas. Pez launches a full-on preview of the week-long saunter.
- Soon-to-be ex-T-Mobster Andreas Kloden begged off at the ToB's first feed station today. Gee, I wonder if this has anything to do with calling the team "incapable".
- Daily dope: Basso faces his accusers in Rome.
