6th Annual Great Pancake Ride

Saturday 10/20, the 6th annual Great Pancake Ride was held.  50+ miles around the south shore of Boston beginning and ending at my home in Norwell Ma.  My good friends and I enjoyed a spirited ride full of town line sprints, attacks on the hills and an overall nice healthy pace, with every rider pulling hard.  Afterwards we enjoyed a fine meal of homemade pancakes and bacon cooked by the lovely and talented Mrs. Van P.
This "event", started as just an end of the season ride with an excuse to eat pancakes, however over the past 3 years, we have shifted our focus to other goals.  Each rider made a generous donation to the Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson's disease.
For those of you who are not familiar with Davis' foundation, In the year 2000 Davis was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at the age of 40, or in his case it is known as Young-Onset-Parkison's.  Parkinson's is a debilitating disease that attacks the central nervous system.
Davis has devoted his efforts to helping those with Parkinson's live a higher quality of life.  This foundation is near and dear to my wife Meg, whose mom has been winning her battle with Parkinson's for more than a dozen years.  Research funded by the works of foundations like Davis' have helped to improve her quality of life and she can enjoy playing with her grandchildren and continue to carry on with her life.  For more information, or to make a donation please visit Davis' website www.davisphinneyfoundation.com

Thank you.
