Destined to be the highlight of the season, the Abu Dhabi Race of Champions will not take place this year, CyclingNews reports. This is a terrible blow to the sport, as the ADCROC had begun enticing many of the world's top riders to the Arab port city with its million dollar prize. I personally had placed it above the Tour of Flanders in terms of excitement and quality of the field. I'm pretty sure Danilo DiLuca had structured his entire second half of his season around it. And now his dreams of Arab millions are dashed -- dashed! -- because the local subcontractor couldn't get the infrastructure needed for the event. Just a sad, sad day all around, not only for Cycling but for the world. Shit.
