In an all-Italian finale, Damiano Cunego outsprinted Giovanni Visconti and non-sprinter Ivan Basso to win the Japan Cup. Basso's teammate Valerio Agnoli was there to escort the captain home, but it was hardly enough to make up for Cunego's devastating closing speed. I'm not exactly brimming with information, but if this photo is any indication, Cunego vs. Basso was every bit the mismatch you'd expect. Visconti, on the other hand, gave The Kid a run for his money.
